Yeah!Female Version Seeeduino:)

Since Open Hardware has become increasingly popular, more people are joining this community. Of course, more women are also taking part in Open Hardware activities, which can be seen from Adafruit and LittleBits. We do hope to enlarge the open hardware community by attracting more lady makers to take part in:)

To make Open Hardware more accessible to people of different backgrounds, we’ve been trying to make Open Hardware more fun and aesthetic. We would love to show the awesomeness in the combination of arts and technology.

After a long time of design, redesign, development and redevelopment, we’ve finally got this fancy little thing in our hand. Let’s have a closer look at it! It’s the female version Seeeduino. YAY!!

Oh, right, this little cute thing doesn’t have a special name yet. Do you have any idea about giving it a suitable name? Welcome to leave your comments below or send emails to [email protected].

Curious about the skillful hand behind this little board? Actually you’ve already known the designer. She designed our special version Seeed T-shirt. She is Popil, a renowned independent cross-media illustrator. She is skillful at drawing, mixing different techniques and using different colors to create multiple designs and characters.

This prototype is Arduino compatible, and we will have Arduino Leonardo compatible when we launch it to the market.

As you can see from the pictures, this female version Seeeduino has the shape of a cute little girl. In the long run we will develop a series of products based on this board, such as basic kits, wearable electronic components and so on. The female version Seeeduino is just the first step of our cooperated projects with designers and artists. We will explore more in this path, to cooperate with musicians, photographers and so forth. You will see some more cute products, which is not only fully-functional but also full of artistic elements. Stay tuned!

Just a warm reminder about the naming of the female Seeeduino, please don’t hesitate to leave your comments here. We will give some a special gift to the commenter whose name is adopted;)

Yeah, I didn’t get the матрёшка hints earlier (a bit subtle there, the arms). :-) I don’t think you guys should use the 福娃 name since it would not match the design. Oops.

Hey Bill, the greatest part of discussion is we might be able to dig out some cool ideas which won’t be thought of alone. Sharing is caring^^ Thanks a lot:)

  2. Bill:

    Also, “Fuwaduino”?

    Hi Bill,
thank you for sharing your idea with us^^
“Fuwaduino” is cute^^. Is it from the mascots of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games?

  3. Ben Combee:

The two names with “LED” in it were just plays on female names but with LED instead of “les”.

Controlla is like “controller” for microcontroller boards, but with a more sophisticated sounding name that could be a person’s name.

Hi Ben, thank you so much for your clear explication. Every name does has its special and deeper meaning;) Thanks a bunch for sharing your ideas with us^^

  4. Al:

Wow! what a cool board, my initial thought was a feminine version of Arduino is a great idea. I was going to say “Missduino” or “Ladyduino”. But then I ran the idea by my wife and somehow she got offended. I guess I’ll never understand women
Thus a cross over would seem the better way to go with the added benefit that males wouldn’t feel embarrased for buying it too. As a male, I think the board design is innovative and artistic, I’d buy it.
Perhaps a product name along the lines of an art theme. As Arduino has introduced many non-technical artists to the world of electronics and this board takes it one step farther as it’s itself an art piece.
One idea: Clio. In Greek mythology, there were 9 goddesses of the arts. Clio being one of them, her focus was history.

I like the name ‘Clio’. 😀 The meaning of this board is making the electronics more friendly to the beginner~

  7. Erick Nava Aldana:

I think its a nice to be some ancient Chinese Goddess Name, that reflects more of it.
I will think on some after reading a lot more about, hope can contribute!
    By the way, great product!!!

Nuwa. The ancient Chinese people believe she used the soil and water to create the man. 😀

  8. Hi Nick, we are so glad that you like the design^_^
And thank you so much fo your gentle reminder. We won’t earmark this product for female makers of that product for male makers. Since people have different likes and dislikes, we do hope to make the products more versatile so that more people will get to like playing with it. Thanks again for sharing your opinions with us^^
By the way, do you have any ideas about the naming of this cute board?
