Recap for Kickstarter-Seeed Creators Night

Finally, we’re now back to our daily rhythm from all works of Maker Faire Shenzhen in the past 3 weeks:) Maker Faire Shenzhen is always a good time for the global maker community to visit the city. This year, we welcomed lots of fresh faces and met many old ones as usual. And we also had a Kickstarter-Seeed Creators Night happening in the same week for makers and creators to get a closer look in the city and make connections with local communities. Time to do a recap!

On October 11, we’ve co-hosted a Kickstarter-Seeed Creators Night with Kickstarter at a really nice craft beer house in Baishizhou, a neighborhood that sits in the center and witnesses the evolution of this city.

Kickstarter has been providing a great platform for creators to show and kick off their projects. We really would love to have an opportunity to have our local community to exchange minds and thoughts with Kickstarter creators. And that’s why we immediately said yes to Clarissa, Kickstarter’s Design & Technology Outreach Lead when she brought up the event proposal.

For the Creator Night, Clarissa also invited 5 Kickstarter creators who are based in Shenzhen and Hong Kong to the event. She also shared many insights about how to craft great campaigns.

We’ve 10 creators from Seeed and Chaihuo x.factory community participated, and some of them even brought their projects that they wanted to kick off on Kickstarter to get inputs from the event participants. At the same time, two colleagues from our Prototyping and Manufacturing Team also joined the event and offer their advice to those projects presented from a manufacturing perspective.

We had a great night of mingling and sharing and learned a lot of resourceful knowledge of crowdfunding. A huge THANK YOU to Clarissa for offering the opportunity to make this ultimate gathering of Kickstarter and Seeed creators happen.
