            We’re using Meshtastic quite extensively for communication on our boat. Each crew member carries a mobile waterproof node (Seeed T1000e), the boat itself has a node, and we also have a Meshtastic tracker for the dinghy.
            We often sail in places where there’s no communication infrastructure, or it is prohibitively expensive. With Meshtastic we can talk when somebody goes ashore, and the boat can send telemetry and alerts to the remote crew.<\/p>

            Some of our buddy boats also have Meshtastic on board so we can text chat with them instead of using VHF.<\/p>

            A few months ago, we also gathered real-world use case feedback from users on Reddit. Here are some highlights.<\/span><\/p>

            From SaintFrancesco<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>

            We are a local scout group and part of the kid’s adventure is to do a 1-2 day hike in a group without the help of smartphones and other stuff. Most of the time this is a really great experience and creates some core memories.<\/span><\/p>

            But in modern times this gets increasingly difficult. 10 Years ago (when i was a kid) it was “perfectly normal” to send kids aged 10-16 years away with a backpack and just a note with an emergency number. But times are changing, and even we as leaders are not really comfortable with this any more.<\/span><\/p>

            For many reasons we don’t want to give them smartphones on their adventure, not only because of the smartphone itself, but also because of the drama that it could create if the phone is not water resistent or gets broken in another way. That’s where we thought about the T1000-E. It would be a perfect fit for our use case, it has no real way for the group to interact with it and it can be configured to send it’s location every few minutes on a private channel. So the experience on these 1-2 Days would still be the same, but with the benefit that we would be able to at least see their location and track them if they don’t reach their checkpoints for any reason. Also the T-1000E is waterproof and IP-Rated, it’s a very small device that can be just attached to someones backpack, so in my mind this is one of the best solutions for our “problem”.<\/span><\/p>

            I’ve been a meshtastic user for quite some time, and even before the T-1000E we thought about this, but the T-1000E is the first IP-rated unit as far as I know, which is a real game chancer for our usecase.<\/span><\/p>

            tl;dr: Scouts can take the T-1000E on their adventures for the sake of their leaders mind.<\/span><\/p>

            I use Meshtastic to communicate with and track my friends at music festivals. The T1000-E seems like it was made for my use case. None of the other Meshtastic devices on the market are as sleek or small or waterproof.The main festival we would use these at is EDC Las Vegas which runs from 6PM – 6AM each night. It\u2019s hard to carry a bulky node around all night so the T1000-E is perfect.<\/span><\/p>
