Designed to be expressive, programmable, and approachable, it invites people to experiment with AI and robotics directly from their desks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With its <strong>fully open-source hardware, software, and simulation environments<\/strong>, Reachy Mini is more than a product \u2014 it\u2019s a platform. This smart architecture decides in real-time whether to process tasks locally for privacy or route them to remote large models for complex reasoning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tool Calls &amp; Control:<\/strong> The AI agent used &#8220;tool calls&#8221; to control Reachy\u2019s head, ears, and camera, while integrating with Eleven Labs API to give it a natural voice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Multimodal Capabilities:<\/strong> In the demo, Reachy didn&#8217;t just chat. It managed a grocery list (eggs, milk, butter), executed code to send script updates, and even turned a hand-drawn sketch into a full architectural rendering.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Home Interaction:<\/strong> Most impressively, Reachy demonstrated real-time home monitoring. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Conversation on Open Robotics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In November 2025, as part of this journey, <strong>Pollen Robotics CEO Matthieu Lapeyre<\/strong> and <strong>Seeed Studio CEO Eric Pan<\/strong> sat down to reflect on how Reachy Mini came to life \u2014 and where it may be heading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Lus1HBWY2E8\"><em>(\ud83c\udfa5 Video: Seeed Studio CEO Eric \u00d7 Pollen Robotics CEO Matthieu)<\/em> <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Reachy Mini: An Open Journey Built Together with Hugging Face, Pollen Robotics, &amp; Seeed Studio\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Lus1HBWY2E8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Matthieu shared that when Reachy Mini was first announced in July, it was still a <strong>3D-printed prototype<\/strong>, In November, instead, <strong>over 3,000 orders arrived within a week<\/strong>, pushing the team to move quickly from prototyping to industrial production together with Seeed Studio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Voice interaction has always been central to Reachy Mini\u2019s design. With no screen or keyboard, the robot is meant to be spoken to directly \u2014 a choice that brought real acoustic challenges due to motor noise. Through close collaboration and multiple iterations, the teams achieved clear voice capture even while the robot is moving. Eric also spoke about Seeed\u2019s decade-long experience in audio processing, which helped address the challenge of noise reduction during motion. Beyond engineering, he expressed his appreciation for Reachy Mini\u2019s expressive design, noting how its large, friendly eyes give it a distinctive character among humanoid robots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Matthieu also emphasized Reachy Mini\u2019s openness: a simple white shell designed to be customized, and an open software stack deeply integrated with Hugging Face, allowing developers to build and deploy AI behaviors with just a few lines of Python.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eric highlighted the shared engineering mindset behind the partnership. He described Matthieu not as a typical CEO, but as a hands-on, full-stack engineer \u2014 deeply involved in both software and hardware. This level of engagement made close, fast-paced collaboration possible, even under extremely tight timelines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a shared belief in open source and community, Reachy Mini stands as an open, collaborative gateway between people and AI \u2014 shaped as much by its community as by its creators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>From Prototype to Production, Together<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With a shared mission of <strong>making technology accessible, <\/strong>Seeed Studio worked closely with Hugging Face and Pollen Robotics throughout the journey of Reachy Mini \u2014 from early prototypes to large-scale production \u2014 helping transform an open-source vision into a robot safely delivered to thousands of users worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The collaboration moved at an extraordinary pace. In less than five months, teams across companies and continents came together, spanning <strong>mechanical design, electronics, acoustics, manufacturing, and supply chain coordination<\/strong>. Different engineering teams worked closely, iterated quickly, and solved problems as one team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most complex challenges came from acoustics. With multiple motors operating simultaneously, motor noise could easily interfere with the microphone array.
