For more than a decade, Seeed has worked with makers and developers around the world, helping turn ideas into real products.\u00a0Our journey in the US has gone through different chapters as well. The conversation around open hardware is changing. AI is rapidly moving beyond screens and cloud services into robots, factories, farms, classrooms, buildings, and everyday devices.<\/span><\/p>

Cameras give machines vision. Microphones allow them to listen. Sensors help them understand their surroundings. Robotics gives AI the ability to act. That raises a much more interesting question:<\/span><\/p>

What happens when AI can move, see, hear, and interact with the physical world?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

For us, this is where open hardware and Physical AI naturally meet.<\/span><\/p>

And California offers an unusually dense environment for exploring that intersection. Semiconductor companies sit alongside AI startups, robotics teams, universities, research labs, makerspaces, developers, and independent builders. New ideas, talent, and technologies constantly cross paths here.<\/span><\/p>

What We’ve Been Building<\/h1>

30 Developers. 36 Hours. One Question: Can a Robot Learn?<\/h3>

In March 2025, nearly 30 developers gathered at Circuit Launch in Mountain View<\/a> for a 36-hour Embodied AI Hackathon organized with NVIDIA, Hugging Face, and Hackster.<\/span><\/p>

Teams worked with SO-ARM100 robotic arms, collected more than 50 episodes of demonstration data, experimented with models including ACT, Diffusion Policy and Pi0, and deployed their work on NVIDIA Jetson for real-time inference. The projects went in very different directions from robotic pick-and-place systems to a robot that could play tic-tac-toe.<\/span><\/p>

What mattered wasn’t only what was built in those 36 hours.\u00a0It showed us what happens when open hardware, open-source AI, and a room full of builders come together.<\/span><\/p>

In April 2026, we brought that same hands-on spirit into our office. For a small early-access reBot-DevArm Builders Session<\/strong>, we invited active robotics engineers, hardware makers, and developers to spend an afternoon assembling a real robotic system.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Participants assembled reBot-DevArm systems, connected perception, compute, and action pipelines, got the robots running \u2014 and, inevitably, debugged them when they didn’t. That is much closer to what we want this space to become.<\/span><\/p>

From a Workshop to a Local Community<\/span><\/h2>

We hosted Meetups<\/strong>, the people in the room came from many different directions: makers, developers, robotics enthusiasts, students, startup builders, and IoT tinkerers. Some brought projects. Some came to see demos. Others simply came to meet people who were interested in the same things.<\/span><\/p>

Where Makers Come Together<\/h1>

In August 2026,\u00a0<\/span>Seeed teamed up with Agora at Robotics Fair\u00a0<\/a><\/span>for a hands-on Physical AI workshop.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

This time, the question was about interaction:<\/span><\/p>

What happens when a robot can actually hear, understand, and respond to you?<\/span><\/p>

Participants created AI agents and deployed them to reSpeaker Flex, experimenting with real-time conversational AI on physical hardware. Live demonstrations with reBot Arm and Reachy Mini showed how voice could become a more natural interface between humans and machines.<\/span><\/p>

According to Agora’s event recap, participants went from creating an AI agent to deploying it on reSpeaker Flex in around ten minutes.<\/span><\/p>

From New Technology to Real-World Problems<\/h1>

Physical AI is exciting, but building robots isn’t the end goal.\u00a0<\/span>What interests us more is what happens when these technologies leave the demo table.<\/span><\/p>

Could better sensing help farmers understand what’s happening in the field?<\/span><\/p>

Could accessible robotics help small manufacturers automate repetitive tasks?<\/span><\/p>

Could AI hardware give students a better way to learn how intelligent systems actually work?<\/span><\/p>

Could edge AI help environmental organizations collect and understand information where cloud connectivity isn’t always available?<\/span><\/p>

For Seeed, open hardware has always been a bridge between emerging technology and real-world applications.<\/span><\/p>

Today, AI gives us a much bigger bridge to build.<\/span><\/p>

Our space is more than an office. We’re building it as a local hub where you can see and try the latest hardware, join workshops and community events, access local technical support, and get products more easily through our US warehouse and local operations. Think of it as Seeed’s own \u201c4S\u201d model \u2014 bringing Showcase, Community & Learning, Sales & Fulfillment, and Support together in one place, so ideas can move more easily from exploration to real-world deployment.<\/span><\/p>

And now is only the beginning. We want this hub to stay open, connecting with makerspaces, universities, startups, nonprofits, technology organizations, developers, and industry partners to explore what’s next.
