People who loves music as well as enjoy controlling smart devices with their voices would definitely want one. But the truth is, many of us already have a speaker for music playing, and the only problem is that, it is not as smart as Echo.<\/p>\n<p>The ReSpeaker from Seeed Studio was just launched on Kickstarter in August. It is a hardware module that uses existing voice recognition services like Amazon\u2019s Alexa Voice Service, the Google Speech API, the Microsoft Cognitive Service, and Houndify to allow voice interaction with anything you want. Go with the \u2018Get Started\u2019 for Alexa Voice Service. Make sure your Alexa for ReSpeaker have a proper Device Type ID which we would use it for Alexa Service log in.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Step 2: Download the Code on <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/respeaker\/Alexa\"><strong>Github<\/strong><\/a><strong> to SD Card<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-15103\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2.png\" alt=\"2\" width=\"628\" height=\"381\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2.png 720w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2-300x182.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 628px) 100vw, 628px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>ReSpeaker has very limited on-board flash storage (about 5M). You can download everything you need from Github to your SD Card.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Step 3: Fill in Alexa Device Information<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/3.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15104\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/3.png\" alt=\"3\" width=\"624\" height=\"393\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/3.png 624w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/3-300x189.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the file \u2018Alexa\u2019 you just downloaded and you can find a python script named <strong>example_creds.py<\/strong>. Rename <strong>example_creds.py<\/strong> to <strong>creds.py<\/strong> and fill <strong>ProductID<\/strong>, <strong>Security_Profile_Description<\/strong>, <strong>Security_Profile_ID<\/strong>, <strong>Client_ID<\/strong> and <strong>Client_Secret<\/strong> with your Alexa device information. You can find all these information on the device information you just registered for you Amazon Developer Account.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Step 4: \u00a0Download Required Libraries<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15105\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/4.png\" alt=\"4\" width=\"624\" height=\"393\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/4.png 624w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/4-300x189.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Run <strong>setup_on_openwrt.sh<\/strong> with putty(Download <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chiark.greenend.org.uk\/~sgtatham\/putty\/download.html\">here<\/a>) get required python libraries. The script will download the ReSpeaker python library, the Request library and the CherryPy library. It might take you few minutes, depends on your network speed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Step 5: \u00a0Get Authorization from Amazon<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/51.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15107\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/51.png\" alt=\"5\" width=\"433\" height=\"627\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/51.png 433w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/51-207x300.png 207w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 433px) 100vw, 433px\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Then run <strong>python auth_web.py<\/strong>. Now you can connect your PC or any smart phone to ReSpeaker&#8217;s Access Point (AP). Before you open <a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.100.1:3000\">http:\/\/192.168.100.1:3000<\/a> on your browser, make sure you see \u2018ENGINE Bus STARTED\u2019 on your putty, it will redirect you to Amazon to sign in.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Step 6: Running Alexa on ReSpeaker<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
