The diameter of the test pads should be 32mil; solder mask opening is\n40mil.\n\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15614\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/BGA-Testing-pad.jpg\" alt=\"BGA Testing pad\" width=\"290\" height=\"267\" \/>\n\nFigure 38: BGA Testing pad.\n[59] If the PCB does not require wave soldering, and the pitch of BGA components is greater that 1.00mm,\nthen there is no need for plugged vias. The BGA via itself can be used as a test point. The top side solder\nmask opening should be 5mil bigger than the diameter of the hole. The bottom side testing pad should be\n32mil with a solder mask opening of 40mil.\n<h2>6.3 Solder Pad Solder Mask Design<\/h2>\n[60] Solder mask design for copper pads should follow figure 39.\n\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15615\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Solder-mask-design.jpg\" alt=\"Solder mask design\" width=\"608\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Solder-mask-design.jpg 608w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Solder-mask-design-300x83.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 608px) 100vw, 608px\" \/>\n\nFigure 39: Solder mask openings for copper pads\n[61] Since PCB manufacturers have limited precision and limits on the minimum width of solder mask\nopenings, solder mask openings should be at least 6mil bigger than pad size (3mil each side), with a minimum\nsolder mask bridge width of 3mil.
