Designers must ensure that the silkscreen<br \/>\ncharacter\u2019s height is large enough to be read by the naked eye (recommended h 50mil).<\/li>\n<li>Recommended spacing between silkscreen objects is h 8mil.<\/li>\n<li>The silkscreen must not overlap with solder pads or Fiducials. The minimum spacing between both is<br \/>\n6mil.<\/li>\n<li>White should be the default silkscreen ink color. Special requirements should be specified in the<br \/>\nPCB\u2019s drill hole layer<\/li>\n<li>For high-density PCB design, the contents of the silkscreen can be chosen according to specific<br \/>\nrequirements. Any silkscreen text should follow the convention of left to right, top to bottom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>8.2 Silkscreen Contents<\/h2>\n<p>[78] The contents of the silkscreen can include PCB name, version, component serial number, polarity and<br \/>\ndirection label, barcode box, mounting hole location code, component footprint, board direction of travel<br \/>\nindicator, anti-static label, heatsink label, etc.<\/p>\n<p>[79] PCB board name and version:<br \/>\nBoard name and version should be placed on the top side of the PCB. The font should be chosen such that it can be easily read. The top and bottom sides of the PCB should also be marked with \u2018T\u2019 and \u2018B\u2019 (or similar).<\/p>\n<p>[80] Barcode (optional):<\/p>\n<p>The barcode should be orientated horizontally or vertically on the PCB, refrain from orientating the<br \/>\nbarcode at any other angle.<\/p>\n<p>The recommended position of the bar code on a typical board is shown in the figure below; the<br \/>\nposition on non-standard boards can use this for reference.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15726\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/position-on-non-standard-boards.jpg\" alt=\"position on non-standard boards\" width=\"342\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/position-on-non-standard-boards.jpg 342w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/position-on-non-standard-boards-300x227.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 342px) 100vw, 342px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Figure 52: Barcode recommended positioning.<\/p>\n<p>[81] Component silk screen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Component labels, mounting holes and positioning holes must be indicated on the silkscreen clearly<br \/>\nand should be located by the relevant features.<\/li>\n<li>Silkscreen characters, polarity and direction labels must not be covered by components.<\/li>\n<li>For components installed horizontally (such as lying electrolytic capacitors), the silkscreen should<br \/>\ninclude the component outline on the corresponding position.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[82] Mounting holes, pilot hole:<br \/>\nIt is recommended that the locations of the mounting holes and pilot holes on the PCB be labelled as \u201cM<br \/>\n**\u201d and \u201cP **,\u201d respectively.<\/p>\n<p>[83] Direction of travel:<br \/>\nFor the PCBs that are required to be fed into equipment, such as wave soldering equipment, in a specific<br \/>\norientation, the direction of travel should be indicated on the board.
