The magnitude and direction of the direct current remain unchanged. Common DC power sources include batteries, lead-acid batteries, and dry batteries.<\/p>\n<p>The waveform of DC power is shown in the figure below:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/DC.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-35153\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/DC.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"478\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/DC.png 762w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/DC-300x258.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 478px) 100vw, 478px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Several basic concepts about current\uff1a<\/h2>\n<p>Take sinusoidal alternating current as an example:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/AC1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-35154\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/AC1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"426\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/AC1.png 390w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/AC1-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 426px) 100vw, 426px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Peak:<\/strong> The maximum value of sinusoidal alternating current in a cycle, denoted as Vpk.<\/li>\n<li><strong>average value:<\/strong> The waveform of sinusoidal alternating current is symmetrical, so the average value of sinusoidal alternating current in a cycle is 0. Such an average value cannot describe the characteristics of alternating current. Therefore, we often calculate the absolute average value of alternating current, the formula is as follows:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/\u516c\u5f0f\u4e00.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35155\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/\u516c\u5f0f\u4e00.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"272\" height=\"41\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Instantaneous value:<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/\u516c\u5f0f\u4e8c.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35156\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/\u516c\u5f0f\u4e8c.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"129\" height=\"23\" \/><\/a><\/strong>It can also be expressed as:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/\u516c\u5f0f\u4e09.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35157\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/\u516c\u5f0f\u4e09.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"155\" height=\"27\" \/><\/a>\u03c9 is the angular frequency of alternating current, \u03d5 is the initial phase angle of alternating current.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Valid value:<\/strong> The effective value of alternating current is usually defined by the thermal effect of current, and the formula is as follows:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/\u516c\u5f0f\u56db.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35158\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/\u516c\u5f0f\u56db.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"288\" height=\"47\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note that the following signals also belong to alternating current, and they can all be converted into sine waves by Fourier transformation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/AC3.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35159\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/AC3.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"576\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/AC3.jpeg 576w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/AC3-300x169.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since the magnitude and direction of the direct current are constant, the peak value, instantaneous value, effective value, and average value of the direct current are all equal to a constant.<\/p>\n<h2>What is the difference between AC and DC?<\/h2>\n<p>Now, we use 12V DC power and 12V AC power to analyze the difference between DC and AC power from loss, use, measurement, and safety.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Loss<\/strong><br \/>\nDC: Direct current is more suitable for long-distance and large-capacity transmission. Therefore, HVDC transmission has become a hot topic.<br \/>\nAC: The AC circuit has inductance parameters, so the loss is large in long-distance transmission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Use<\/strong><br \/>\nDC voltage stability, no big noise, it is suitable for the use of electronic products. (such as televisions, radio computers, etc.)<br \/>\nAC power to go through the rectifier\/switching power supply into DC power can be used for electronic products.<\/p>\n<p>Measure the difference between 12V AC and DC:<br \/>\nA) with a digital universal measurement, respectively, with 20V AC voltage and 20V DC voltage file measurement, the results will be different.<br \/>\nB) simple measurement method: with a stylus pen (non-ordinary pen) on the wire foreskin, 12V AC will still show, 12V DC no display.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Safety<\/strong><br \/>\n12V DC is safer than 12V AC. Body resistance decreased when the 12V AC still may cause the dead, 12V DC will not be in 100%. However, the hazard degree of electric shock to the human body mainly depends on the size of the current passing through the human body and the length of the energization time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Peak<\/strong><br \/>\nAccording to the voltage pattern, 12V AC and DC instantaneous peak voltage is not the same, the instantaneous peak voltage (12V straight) \u2261 12V, instantaneous peak voltage :<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/\u516c\u5f0f\u4e94.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35160\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/\u516c\u5f0f\u4e94.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"148\" height=\"25\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>About Rectifier and Inverter Circuit<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Rectifier:<\/strong> The conversion of alternating current to direct current is called Rectifier. The single-phase bridge rectifier circuit diagram is shown below. VT1 and VT4 are a set of switches. VT2 and VT3 are another set of switches. The single-phase bridge inverter circuit diagram is shown below. S1 and S2 are one set of circuits; S3 and S4 are another set of circuits.
