If you don\u2019t, that is fine too as I am going to share another 4 projects created on the workshop.<\/p>\n<p>As the four teams could make anything at their will in the afternoon, the 4 projects were super various in the theme. There were a Zebra Decor lamp, a Recycled-Bottle-for-Candy Exchange Machine, a Smart Mobile Vertical Plant Grower and a Modular Furniture. Let\u2019s jump to their making journey.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Recycled-Bottle-for-Candy Exchange Machine<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-6.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17157\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-6.jpeg\" alt=\"640-6\" width=\"1080\" height=\"392\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-6.jpeg 1080w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-6-300x109.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-6-1030x374.jpeg 1030w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is universally acknowledged that every kid loves candies. This was the fundamentals of the Recycled-Bottle-for-Candy Exchange Machine. To help kids form the habit of garbage classification, the team made a sweet offer: encourage kids to recycle drink bottles to exchange for candies. When the machine gets a recycled plastic bottle, it will send out a\u00a0specific amount of candies based on the weight of the bottle.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"The Recycled-Bottle-for-Candy Exchange Machine\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZpWEWWS7jRI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Inside the machine, there was a complex mechanism: an ultrasonic sensor was in charge of detecting if a recycled bottle was on board, a servo controlled the give-away of candies, and a Seeeduino controlled the whole system;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-2.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17151\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-2.gif\" alt=\"640-2\" width=\"640\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-7.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17158\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-7.jpeg\" alt=\"640-7\" width=\"1080\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-7.jpeg 1080w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-7-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-7-1030x687.jpeg 1030w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Kids will definitely be crazy about the machine, because I, a-28-year-old, just could not stop playing with it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Smart Mobile Vertical Plant Grower<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-1.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17150\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-1.jpeg\" alt=\"640-1\" width=\"1080\" height=\"397\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-1.jpeg 1080w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-1-300x110.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-1-1030x379.jpeg 1030w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Smart Mobile Vertical Plant Grower is a smart plant-growing ecosystem, which has two lighting systems. The lightbulb will be lighted up when the sensor detects someone passing by. The other led strips are hidden at the back side of the vertical structure, which will be triggered to light up red (otherwise it&#8217;s green) when the moisture sensor sending out water shortage message to the Seeeduino. Apart from these, there is an OLED attached to the Grower, on which the real-time data including solid temperature, humidity, and illumination displays.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-2.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17152\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-2.jpeg\" alt=\"640-2\" width=\"1080\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-2.jpeg 1080w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-2-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-2-1030x687.jpeg 1030w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The half-cut PVC tube were mounted to a recycled wooden pallet as pots to grow plants. It\u2019s much easier for even a small kid to move the Grower anywhere she\/he wants. Putting users\u2019 experience into consideration even when you are tinkering a prototype is really sweet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17162\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640.gif\" alt=\"640\" width=\"640\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Zebra Decor Lamp<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-8.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17159\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-8.jpeg\" alt=\"640-8\" width=\"1080\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-8.jpeg 1080w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-8-300x119.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-8-1030x408.jpeg 1030w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Team behind this project struggled a while in discussing what to make for their second unassigned theme workshop, while the other teams were already busy in tinkering. After a 2-hour brainstorming, they\u00a0chose to make a second lamp, which led to the creation of the Zebra Decor Lamp!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-9.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17160\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-9.jpeg\" alt=\"640-9\" width=\"1080\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-9.jpeg 1080w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-9-300x165.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-9-1030x567.jpeg 1030w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was fun, quirky and cool, with PVC tubes milled into its body. The team even painted the black skin patterns on it. An ultrasonic sensor was mounted as the zebra\u2019s nose, while the led strip, a Seeeduino were connected and hidden in the body. The team used a lot of recycled PVC tubes of various length and mounted them into 2 layers of huge cylinders. Each cylinder was a basic modular, and they could be put together as a side table<span style=\"color: #333333;\"> while using a single one as a storage box also made sense.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/\u672a\u547d\u540d5.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17190\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/\u672a\u547d\u540d5.gif\" alt=\"\u672a\u547d\u540d\" width=\"640\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As the tubes were painted black, and a circular shaft was painted blue, they looked cohesive together as an industrial styled side table.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-10.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17161\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-10.jpeg\" alt=\"640-10\" width=\"1080\" height=\"609\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-10.jpeg 1080w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-10-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/640-10-1030x581.jpeg 1030w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally, I\u2019ve put all these together (Yeah!!). Material waste has been a huge burden for our Earth, so I really hope the creative way how the workshop participants upcycle the common materials could inspire you in some way.
