The course enables a hands-on creative exploration of digital fabrication and Internet-of-Things connected devices, while gaining deeper insight into China’s cultural surroundings from an inside perspective.<\/p>\n

During the course, you\u2019ll be able to learn
\n– prototyping as iterative design & development process
\n– Design, development & fabrication of physical mechanisms
\n– Integration of multiple materials & media to create interactive objects
\n– CAD design & fabrication: use of Rhino, 3D printers, CNC & laser-cutters
\n– Basic programming \uff08Arduino\/motors\/sensors\/LED strips, etc.)
\n– Integrate traditional manufacturing with new technologies
\n– Experience with different materials
\n– Presentation and communication with an international audience.<\/p>\n

\n– Exploration of Chinese vs European preconception (and vice versa).
\n– Collection of local resources to construct & design future consumable products.
\n– Delving into theory and practice of IoT connected devices.
\n– Rethinking IoT connected device methodologies.
\n– Understanding & experiencing speculative design & design fiction methodologies.<\/p>\n

Week 3&4
\n– Explore production facilities \/ processes \/ critical design methods for imagined futures.
\n– Design objects to be produced in China as prototypes for future productions that could be elsewhere.
\n– Fabrication.
\n– Documentation and archive of new objects.\n<\/p>

Simone has been teaching and presenting at CIID, SUPSI, China Academy of Fine Arts, Tedx, IxDA, SolidCon, Thingscon and Dconstruct. His works have been published internationally in Wired, Fastcompany, The Atlantic and Designboom. He has won numerous industry awards including two 2014 IXDA Interaction Awards for \u201cAddicted Products\u201d, and a 2015-2016 Internet of Things Award for Best Design Fiction for his \u201cEthical Things\u201d project.<\/p>\n

\nInteraction Designer, Design Technologist, Critical Media Artist<\/p>\n

Saurabh had done his structural engineering and robotics from India and then his Masters in Interaction Design from Copenhagen. His interest shifts between traditional Human Computer interaction modalities and philosophies, Glitch and disturbance studies, Critical arts and engineering, physicality and ethics of technology.<\/p>\n
