Also, this will\nbe proportional to the current through the measured path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Current sensors are usually designed after taking two phenomena into consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a current is flowing through a wire, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>a voltage drop occurs <\/li><li>a magnetic field is generated<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, based on this, there are two types of current sensing,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Direct sensing <\/li><li>Indirect sensing <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Direct sensing is based on Ohm\u2019s law and Indirect sensing is based on Ampere\u2019s Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ohm\u2019s law <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ohm\u2019s law states that the current through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the voltage across those two points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" Law&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faraday\u2019s Law relates the rate of change of magnetic flux through a loop to the magnitude of the electro-motive force induced in the loop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div only-ins replaceWithoutSep\" id=\"3\" data-gr-id=\"3\">proportional<\/g> voltage or current which is then transformed <g class=\"gr_ gr_4 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace\" id=\"4\" data-gr-id=\"4\">to<\/g> a form suitable for measurement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>So, what\u2019s the difference between these&nbsp;sensor&nbsp;modules?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, all these modules are based on the indirect sensing method, but what\u2019s different is the theory of operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/Grove-10A-DC-Current-Sensor-ACS725-p-2927.html\">The Grove &#8211; 10A DC Current Sensor (ACS725)<\/a> is a hall sensor whereas the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/Grove-2-5A-DC-Current-Sensor-ACS70331-p-2929.html\">Grove &#8211; 2.5A DC Current Sensor(ACS70331)<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/Grove-5A-DC-AC-Current-Sensor-ACS70331-p-2928.html\">Grove &#8211; \u00b15A DC\/AC Current Sensor (ACS70331)<\/a> are based on GMR (giant magneto-resistive)  elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hall effect is the production of a potential difference across an electrical conductor when a magnetic field is applied in a direction perpendicular to that of the flow of current. Therefore, the AC current is calculated by measuring the voltage drop across the resistor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, GMR (giant magneto-resistive) elements are resistors that change resistance with the applied field and calculate current according to that. These elements function differently than the Hall-effect sensors because the applied magnetic field is parallel to the surface of the sensor rather than perpendicular to the sensor plane as with Hall sensors. The main advantage of GMR is that it is around 25 times more sensitive than Hall-effect sensors, making it suitable for measuring small currents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, let&#8217;s have a look at the three sensors that we released.
