{"id":37855,"date":"2020-11-02T15:55:26","date_gmt":"2020-11-02T07:55:26","guid":{"rendered":"\/blog\/?p=37855"},"modified":"2020-11-04T14:55:45","modified_gmt":"2020-11-04T06:55:45","slug":"the-things-indoor-gateway-gets-started-with-sensecap-sensor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/2020\/11\/02\/the-things-indoor-gateway-gets-started-with-sensecap-sensor\/","title":{"rendered":"The Things Indoor Gateway: How to Get Started With SenseCAP Sensor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thethingsnetwork.org\/docs\/gateways\/thethingsindoor\/\">The Things Indoor Gateway<\/a>, as a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thethingsnetwork.org\/\">The Things Network<\/a>&nbsp;product featuring high reliability, high performance, and cost-effective, supports LoRaWAN 1.0.3 and therefore is compatible with other LoRaWAN sensors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To connect The Things Indoor Gateway with LoRaWAN SenseCAP sensors for both indoor and outdoor applications simultaneously to meet your IoT scenarios, here we use Industrial Grade <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/LoRaWAN-CO2-Sensor-EU868-p-4311.html\">SenseCAP LoRaWAN CO2 Sensor (Indoor)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/LoRaWAN-Soil-Moisture-and-Temperature-Sensor-EU868-p-4316.html\">SenseCAP LoRaWAN Soil Moisture &amp; Temperature Sensor <\/a>(Outdoor) as examples to show you the overall set-up process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/files.seeedstudio.com\/products\/113990896\/wiki\/connection%20diagram.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a>Step 1: Activate your TTIG Gateway<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Press the reset button (small button at the back of the gateway next to the USB-C port) for 5 seconds until the LED blinks rapidly GREEN&lt;-&gt;RED for a couple of times.<\/li><li>Hold the SETUP (button at the top of the gateway, next to the LED) for 10 seconds until the LED blinks rapidly in RED.<\/li><li>The gateway now exposes a WiFi AP whose SSID is MINIHUB-xxxxxx where xxxxxx is the last 6 digits of the gateway ID.<\/li><li>The password for this network is printed on the back panel of the device under WiFi PW.<\/li><li>Afterward, access 192.168.4.1 on your browser to enter the WiFi config page. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/files.seeedstudio.com\/products\/113990896\/wiki\/192.168.4.1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"214\" height=\"333\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Select the WiFi network and enter the password if it\u2019s a closed network.<\/li><li>Select the \u201cSave and Reboot\u201d option.<\/li><li>If your config is right<ul><li>The gateway will blink GREEN for a few seconds while it connects to this network.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Then, it will blink GREEN&lt;-&gt;RED for a few seconds while it connects to the CUPS endpoint and fetches the necessary information to connect to the LNS traffic endpoint.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>If your configuration was successful, the LED will be solid GREEN which means that the gateway is connected to the LoRaWAN network and is ready to handle packets.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.seeedstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/WechatIMG348-1-1030x773.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-37864\" width=\"391\" height=\"293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/WechatIMG348-1-1030x773.jpeg 1030w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/WechatIMG348-1-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/WechatIMG348-1-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/WechatIMG348-1-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/WechatIMG348-1-2048x1536.jpeg 2048w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/WechatIMG348-1-1024x768.jpeg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 391px) 100vw, 391px\" \/><figcaption><em>Note: Deploying your TTIG Gateway near the Window <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a>Step 2:\nGateway Registration on TTN Console<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Load into TTN website: https:\/\/www.thethingsnetwork.org and create your account, then access \u201cConsole\u201d and first click on &#8220;Gateway&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/files.seeedstudio.com\/products\/113990896\/wiki\/s2.1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"590\" height=\"289\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Register your gateway:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/files.seeedstudio.com\/products\/113990896\/wiki\/s2.2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"591\" height=\"319\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2460 Gateway EUI: it is shown on the &#8220;Add Network&#8221; page 192.168.4.1<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/files.seeedstudio.com\/products\/113990896\/wiki\/s2.3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"234\" height=\"302\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2461 Frequency Plan: View the labels on the gateway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2462 Router: Select the router that is right for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then register: Gateway Status displays connected, indicating successful registration<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/files.seeedstudio.com\/products\/113990896\/wiki\/s2.4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"590\" height=\"276\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a>Step 3:\nAdd SenseCAP sensors to the TTN Console<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1.Obtain Device EUI, Device Code, App Key, and App EUI  <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Device EUI and Device Code are on the SenseCAP product label.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/files.seeedstudio.com\/products\/113990896\/wiki\/s3.1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"325\" height=\"165\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>SenseCAP sensor device\u2019s AppEUI and AppKey have been flash into the device by Seeed. Use HTTP API to retrieve App EUI and App Key. You can use a browser to issue an HTTP GET request.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/files.seeedstudio.com\/products\/113990896\/wiki\/s3.2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"592\" height=\"67\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In the API, replace the Device EUI and Device Code with your own Device EUI and Device Code respectively. Add Sensor Node as Devices on TTN Console<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Application \u2192 Devices \u2192 register device<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/files.seeedstudio.com\/products\/113990896\/wiki\/s3.9.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"593\" height=\"120\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/files.seeedstudio.com\/products\/113990896\/wiki\/s3.10.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"591\" height=\"350\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2460 Device ID: Enter a unique name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2461 Device EUI: Enter the node\u2019s Device EUI that you got in the previous step (Step 3.1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2462 App Key: Enter the node\u2019s App Key that you got in the previous step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2463 App EUI: Select the node\u2019s App EUI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a>Step 4: <\/a>Activate your SenseCAP Sensors<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Power On<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The power switch is hidden inside the device. Open the device and turn on the power before installing the sensors. Here is the step-by-step instruction:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1) Loosen the Sensor Probe by turning the cap counterclockwise. Use the white cap opener to make this process easier. The image below uses TH Sensor as an example and applies to all other SenseCAPsensors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/files.seeedstudio.com\/products\/113990896\/wiki\/s4.1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"371\" height=\"289\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>2) After opening the device, turn the switch to \u201cON\u201d, and the LED on the lower right corner will flash,indicating that the power is on. Wait for about 10 seconds, then the LED will flash quickly for 2 seconds,indicating that the device is connected to the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/files.seeedstudio.com\/products\/113990896\/wiki\/s4.2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"340\" height=\"233\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>3) After the device is connected to the network, connect the Sensor Probe back with the Sensor NodeController by turning it clockwise.
