As you know, Seeed\u2019s \u201cIoT Into the Wild Contest for Sustainable Planet 2022\u201d (aka \u2018IoT2Wild Contest\u2019) was hosted on Hackster for about 4 months from June through September this year. And as a result of this Contest, we received 122 Project Submissions, awarded 104 free hardware kits, and inspired 561 Participants from 78 Countries in 6 continents.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Today, at <\/span>Hackster\u2019s Impact Summit<\/span><\/a><\/span> (October 11th), winners of IoT2Wild Contest have been FINALLY announced on LIVE!!! With the judges\u2019 evaluations and discussions, 31 winners have been selected as final winners for 6 types of Awards – that\u2019s worthy of $18,000+ in prizes!!! In fact, during the Winner Announcement, we also announced a SURPRISE~ award called \u201cFacilitator Award\u201d – that\u2019s given to the people who manifested the spirit of the global open source community through demonstrating an exceptional facilitator role by voluntarily and passionately sharing their technical and non-technical knowledge, skills, and know-hows. The prize for this award consists of swags from Seeed Studio, Helium, Nova Labs, and Zambezi Partners.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

So, the 15-minute-short winner announcement was moderated by Seeed\u2019s Sustainability and CSR Manager (<\/span>Ye Seong SHIN<\/span><\/a><\/span>) according to the following programs:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

    As <\/span>Bastiaan den Braber<\/span><\/a><\/span>, the Founder of <\/span>Zambezi Partners<\/span><\/a><\/span>, rightfully shared in his welcome remarks, we were able to witness the various potential of AI, IoT, and Edge Computing technologies in tackling the most urgent challenges of our time – right out there in the wild!<\/span><\/span><\/p>

    \u201cThe objective of this contest was to show us the power of AI, IoT, and Edge Computing for saving the Earth and biodiversity. \u2026 We have been truly impressed with the breadth of solutions submitted covering all aspects of planetary threats! \u2026 Submissions covered everything from precision farming, insect- and algae based protein production, early detection of wildfires, harmful algae, and severe weather, to monitoring volcanoes\/oceans\/skies\/crops, to acoustic monitoring of protected areas, to tracking endangered wildlife species. You name it, and numerous amazing solutions were submitted.\u201d\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/p>
