SODAQ is the latest Arduino compatible board that enters the market through a\u00a0Kickstarter\u00a0campaign<\/a> that has just been launched. The SODAQ board can be powered by a solar panel and LiPo battery and has 12 Grove connectors on board. So no more need for a Grove shield. The Grove system is the most extensive range of Sensors and Actuators available for the Arduino platform.<\/p>\n

The SODAQ board has been designed by Gregory Knauff, who also designed the GPRSbee<\/a>. One of the main design goals was to minimize power consumption. For instance the USB controller chip is only powered on when the USB cable is connected. Also one row of Grove connectors can be switched on and off in software, so you can choose to power your Grove modules just when you need them to be powered.<\/p>\n

The board runs on 3.3 Volt which makes it much more efficient and easy to be powered with a 3.7 Volt Lithium Polymer battery. It has a charge controller on board as well as a Real Time Clock and a 2 Megabyte serial flash module for storing your sensor data. You could call it the Swiss Army Knife of Arduino boards.
