In India, a 2021 National Crime Records Bureau report noted 47 cases of neonatal incubator-related accidents, resulting in 52 deaths and 63 injuries due to factors like short circuits and faulty wiring. The monitoring system uses a variety of sensors to collect data on these parameters, and then uses an IoT platform to analyze and transmit the data to a dashboard for visual monitoring and remote control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Solution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This monitoring system utilizes a mmWave module to track accurate breath, heartbeat, and sleep status of infants, while multiple sensors monitor temperature, humidity, pressure, eCO2\/CO2, TVOC, and AQI data sent to the XIAO nRF52840 Sense. The collected data is subsequently sent to a cloud server, Blues Notehub, via Blues Notecard, providing a web interface for remote access by doctors and parents.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"740\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/\u4f01\u4e1a\u5fae\u4fe1\u622a\u56fe_17012259066093.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-88194\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/\u4f01\u4e1a\u5fae\u4fe1\u622a\u56fe_17012259066093.png 740w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/\u4f01\u4e1a\u5fae\u4fe1\u622a\u56fe_17012259066093-300x128.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: 60GHz mmWave Sensor Setup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Pradeep opted the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/60GHz-mmWave-Radar-Sensor-Breathing-and-Heartbeat-Module-p-5305.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">60GHz mmWave Sensor &#8211; Human Static Sleep Breathing Monitoring (MR60BHA1)<\/a> to detect the human presence, motion, respiration, heart rate, and sleep status. This module is operating on the FMCW (frequency-modulated continuous wave) radar system, has a 1 transmit 3 receive (1T3R) antenna, capturing the motion tomography of the human body and measuring vital signs with high precision and security. Suitable for various applications in smart homes, health care, and medical fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also utilized the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/fusion.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Seeed Fusion PCB and PCBA service<\/a> to construct PCB board connections that are both flexible and reliable.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"740\" height=\"396\" src=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/\u4f01\u4e1a\u5fae\u4fe1\u622a\u56fe_17012274613542.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-88195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/\u4f01\u4e1a\u5fae\u4fe1\u622a\u56fe_17012274613542.png 740w, https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/\u4f01\u4e1a\u5fae\u4fe1\u622a\u56fe_17012274613542-300x161.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Environmental Sensors Setup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Pradeep utilized three different sensors to monitor the incubator&#8217;s environmental conditions. The first, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/Grove-I2C-High-Accuracy-Temp-Humi-Sensor-SHT35.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Grove &#8211; I2C High Accuracy Temp&amp;Humi Sensor (SHT35)<\/a>, accurately measures temperature and humidity with low power consumption, compatible with various microcontrollers on the Grove platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/Grove-VOC-and-eCO2-Gas-Sensor-for-Arduino-SGP30.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Grove &#8211; VOC and eCO2 Gas Sensor(SGP30)<\/a>, gauges volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and equivalent carbon dioxide (eCO2) concentrations, offering detailed air quality information with Sensirion&#8217;s CMOSens technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seeedstudio.com\/Grove-Barometer-Sensor-BMP280.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Grove-Temperature and Barometer Sensor (BMP280)<\/a> measures absolute barometric pressure. All three sensors share I2C communication compatibility, and Pradeep added an I2C port to the PCB for direct sensor connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hackster.io\/pradeeplogu0\/neonatal-incubator-monitoring-using-blues-qubitro-e96197#toc-step-2----environmental-sensors-setup-5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Check the example of Arduino sketch that can measure and print all these sensor values via the serial monitor<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Blues Notecard\/Carrier Setup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Blues Notecard and Notecarrier simplify connected solutions for developers. The Notecard, a compact module, ensures a secure cloud connection through cellular or Wi-Fi. The Notecarrier, a hosting board, includes power options, antenna connectors, and peripheral ports. This duo forms a robust IoT platform for rapid prototyping and deployment. Choose the desired device to showcase its data. He went to the Qubitro project&#8217;s functions tab, added a rule function, and chose the Webhook option. Using demo webhooks, he pasted the address in the Qubitro rule engine, set conditions for temperature and heart rate, and saved.
