Description

Seeeduino V4.2 is an Arduino-compatible board, which is based on ATmga328P MCU. There're so many Arduinos and Arduino-compatible boards in the world, and we think that Seeeduino V4.2 is one of the best Arduino boards. Seeeduino V4.2 is much more stable and easy-to-use with our special red design for Seeeduino family

Seeeduino V4.2 is based on the Arduino UNO bootloader, and with an ATMEGA16U2 as a UART-to-USB converter, which means that the board can basically work like an FTDI chip. You can program the board via a micro-USB cable. Also, you can power the board via a DC Jack input, 7 to 15V is acceptable. There's a switch to choose the system supply voltage, 3.3V or 5V, which is very useful if you want to set the system to 3.3V to save power.

We have dedicated our time to help you get started with this sensor quickly and easily. Try the step-by-step example code to quickly get started with clear codes. We also collected 20 Awesome Arduino Projects in the community to help you get started if you do not know what to do with Seeeduino V4.2  when you first get it in hands.

Grove makes it easier to connect, experiment, and simplify the prototyping process. No jumpers or soldering required. We have developed more than 300 Grove modules, covering a wide range of applications that can fulfill a variety of needs. Not only are these open hardware, but we also have open-source software.

Finally, please also check Arduino Boards Selection Guide to compare processor, operating voltage, input voltage, clock speed, digital I/O, PWM, analog inputs, UART, Grove connectors, flash memory, and USB connectors for different Arduino boards!

Attention

Operating the chip at 16 MHz with 3.3 volts is beyond the specified maximum frequency "Safe Operating Area" for the ATmga328P chip. So when you switch the working voltage to 3.3V, it may not be safe. However, at room temperature, most chips work fine that way.

    good design
    Hello,
this is a well done design for an Arduino.
Reset switch at the side and 5V / 3.3V data voltage switches are really helpfull.
A special USB driver works after some tries. Here is a description in German for the USB.

    Hi
I bought this board Seeeduino v4.2 but I can not let go of it anyway.I tried all the possible drivers.I mention that I tried under Windows 7 professional 64 bit.
I can not install the driver anyway.I've attached the computer's message below.
    Any suggestion if you have?
    Thank you

Unlike other Arduino Uno boards, this one requires loading drivers before it can be recognized. Other than this the board works perfectly well.

Received two of them today. They are very nice looking board. I've not had a chance to actually test them out yet but so far so good.

The board is not correctly detected (Windows 7 and Windows 10) : just seen as a AtMega DFU. The product is not usable.

It looked ok on arrival. There is a red marking on the ATmega16u2.
But it does not work (both of them); neither the ATmega16u2 nor the Atmega328p have been programmed (no USB for download, no boot loader).
After programming both chips program upload is still impossible.
    Please send checked replacements!

I really like this board. Especially the two I2C grove connectors. The only improvements would be to have a faster processor, more memory, and a more durable USB connector than the micro which doesn't handle the power requirements very well. I would like to see solder points for connecting a cable to the board directly when the USB connector fails, so the board is still usable.

I have had 2 of these boards running 24/7 on my desk since receiving them over a month ago, and have noticed no issues with heating or "oddness". My only problem with them is keeping my very curious kitten away from them for any length of time; still, they have even survived her playful attacks.

All-in-all, these represent an excellent value for my prototyping needs at the '328p end of the spectrum.
