This Arduino Motor shield uses L298P chip which allow to drive two 7-12V DC motors with maximum 2A current. This shield can be directly mount onto standard Arduino Duemilanove and Arduino Mega.

I have both, the priio board (no longer available) and the avr ready board by Mikroe Electronica. These are ATmega16 microcontrollers. Is this motor driver compatible?

Hello,we are not familiar to ATmega16 microcontrollers, it is should be compatible, since this motor is controlled via 6 digital ports include 2PWM ports. More details, please refer to the Manual of this product.

Yes, Seeedunio ADK is a Arduino Mega compatible board, hence, this product can be used with it.

Physically it fits well onto the ARM Maple r5 - is there any reason it wouldn't work?
Anyone tried it?

Yes , it can be used with the Maple because it it base L298 , easy to controlled . More details , you can refer to datasheet of L298 .Thansk
