This is old version Crazyflie, you can consider upgrated product Crazyflie 2.0 DIY Kit as substitute product.
Ever wanted a development kit that flies? Well now you can! The Crazyflie is an open source nano quadcopter kit designed for flexible development and hacking. It's among the smallest in the world, weighing only 19 grams and measuring 9 cm motor to motor.
The development platform is open source so schematics and firmware/host source code is available at the Bitcraze website as well as a Wiki with design information and details on how to set up the development environment and get started. It’s designed with development in mind and has an expansion header that enables developers to expand the platform as well as good software development support. Due to it’s small size it’s perfect for developing new software and can easily be flown inside. It can lift a payload of up to 5 - 10 g.
This is the 10 DOF version of Crazyflie that integrate extra sensors for altitude and heading measurement. There is yet no firmware support for these sensors but they have the potential to enable heading and altitude control. If you want to develop a new algorithm or if you want to be able to use some advanced algorithm that might be created for these sensor you should definitely consider the 10-DOF version.
A 2.4 GHz radio chip from Nordic Semiconductors is used for receiving commands and sending telemetry data back to the host computer. The communication with the host is made possible by using the Crazyradio 2.4 GHz USB radio dongle. The Crazyradio can be connected to a PC (with support for Windows and Linux) but also to other hosts that support USB Host or OTG like Android phones. Mac OSX currently has beta support handled by the community.
The Crazyflie Quadcopter is shipped pre-programmed but can easily be wirelessly updated via a radio bootloader from a host PC, so no JTAG is required for reprogramming. For advanced development and debugging there’s also an accessible JTAG interface.
This kit requires soldering skills and is not for beginners. It is not a toy and should be handled with care.
What is not included but needed for flying
Needed for Assembly
I want one! I want one!But my soldering skills suck, and I would like to just get an RTF version, since this would remove the environment restrictions on flying (I already fly RC Copters) that I am currently bound by.Any chance of that?, if so,
We plan to make a RTF version in the future but there is no guarantee of that. Maybe you have someone that could help you out that has experience?
I just want to ask if it would be possible to add a gps sensor to the board or something like that to fly it gps controlled? It also would be interesting to know if such signals (gps or maybe a camera signal) can be transferred via the 2,4GHz radio str
There is a spare UART on the expansion connector so it is possible but the problem would be to find a light enough GPS module. Also there is a risk of GPS signal interference if it is placed to close to the PCB.
I wounder if it is possible to connect other speed controllers? In other words: Is it possible to hack this to become bigger :)
(can you solder wires to pin 18, 19, 45 and 46 from u1 in the board_schematics ?)
/A Swedish electroengineer
Yes it is definitely possible. Nothing we have tried yet though and there is currently now firmware support but it is on our wish-list.
I'm interested in this for research related purpose that requires camera flying around. What type of camera (wireless, self-contained recording?) can this lift? considering the maximum payload of 10 gram. thank you
Have a look at this post: http://www.bitcraze.se/2012/10...That camera is a bit heavy though. When you get close to 10g payload the flight performance is hea
Given the maintenance of the future, why not get to the connector soldered to the base rather than the motor?
Hi Alexis, it can not work without the power jumper, for driving your Arduino ,it is necessary to plug a jumper
Is there a way to see and study the open source code? You mark it is available at the Bitcraze website. The exact link would be useful, thank you.
It's availible at bitbucket: https://bitbucket.org/bitcraze...
So... is it linux compatible? That would be awesome.
"The Crazyradio can be connected to a PC (with support for Windows and Linux) but also to other hosts that support USB Host or OTG like Android phones."
Do you deleiver together united camera and crazyflie
No sorry, that would be up to you to hack ;-)
Is Mac OSX supported?
It's on its way but we are having some trouble with the python libraries.
Do you have integrated model of the camera crazyflie ? I don't want to take camera mount myself this product
i want to buy together united camera and crazyflie
Hello, what is the maximum speed of Crazyflie?
We have not been able to measure the top speed but a guess is 30km/h. Any crash at that speed would be fatal for the Crazyflie though.
Can you please carry the "trainers" mod, or at least post a link for materials purchase and instructions? Also, any chance you could make a 3D wire mod that protects against vertical impact?
We will put that on our TODO list. There is a lot to do though so we cant grantee it will be ready soon. You can have a look here first: http://www.bitcraze.se/2012/10.
When will it be my turn? when will you send me? just want 2 have KIT10 DOF urgency because it will be the basis for another project in my college, please send me as soon as possible
Hi Michel, you can contact firstname.lastname@example.org to check the detail.
Hi, I want to know if you have the fpv camera kit for the Crazyflie, if there is a gps kit and how much is all these items. I live in Brazil, how much is the shipping cost to Brazil?
Hi Andre, we don't have the kits temporary, but thanks for your proposal, i think we will launch them in future, please keep your eyes on. for the shipping, if you choose express, it takes 3-7 working days to Brazil. the shipping fee is about $40. anot
I must thank you ! you're the reason now, that I am "into" quad copters, i bought myself a GAUI 330X kit, i'm planning to upgrade to KK2 board, once i've got the GU-344 working, and maybe even upgrade to a CRIUS AIOP ......But a good start should b
Hi,Ruben. That means your motor shield is working now if the red led turns on.I'm sorry that we have no doc about this, anyway,it could not influence your operation.
Hey, when do you guys plan for the next batch to be available, do you think you can sell more before summer ends? Also do you have any future plans for designing new and improved models?
Hi,thanks for your feedback.
Where can I see the board layout or gerber files?
Hi,there are something different from our motor shield and Adafruit motor shield,so you might change your code. And you can use our motor shield to run the robot's motors through Arduino. You could put a post about your method on our forum clearly.
what about the camera in the last min in the video , does it inclouded ?
you can buy one for cheap here https://www.dynaspy.com/hi-res...
Will there be a third batch of order?
Hi David. If you have any question about purchase please drop a line to email@example.com.
I had bit of trouble getting it going as well but to me thats part of the fun! I just followed the directions closely and everything worked in the end. I'm running it on XP through Parallels on my Macbook so I'd say it had every reason not to work. The
Hey,the shield has occupied digital 6-13 pin,and others are all reserved, you can use them freely.
The camera of the Rpi was released last week, look here:http://www.raspberrypi.org/arc...
is the connector of this quadcopter suitable for this camera? (it's 3 grams wei
Unfortunately not - the Pi's camera uses a CSI connector which would be a tight fit on the Crazyflie board. Your best bet is to look for one of the popular micro keychain cameras or one designed for first-person control of RC models.
Bad experience. Unable to get the USB dongle working. Posting question(s) in the forum just triggered canned suggestions about USB3 vs USB2. Looks like a nice toy to play with, if it one can get it to work. Wasted my money on this and would not recomme
Hi.You can see a power jumper(J4) on the motor shield. If you move it,the Arduino can provide power to Shield, but the shield also can't provide power to Arduino. If J4 exists, they can provide power to each other under two situation:1)USB to Arduino:if no
Is it compatible with a xbox 360 controller?
Yes - many are already flying with one.
Hi I have a Mac. Will it work on virtual PC running windows XP?
I have mine running on XP through Parallels on my mac.
Apparently it was restocked yesterday, but u wasn't notified of that, i have been tracking this product for a long time, when is there going to be more stock and yes i had added my email to the notify me
Hi,you can drive them before you have confirmed you have connect a external power.
I would like to confirm whether my name is in the waiting list and how long will you send me ...
Seed is not clear on what is the difference between the 10-DOF and the 6-DOF. Also, why are there no links for the manuf. Why should i have to hunt down this information.
Hi.A super-simplified form is this:6-DOF: The quadcopter can balance itsself, but doesn't know much else.10-DOF: The quadcopter can balance itself and has a basic ability to sense height and orientation (like a compass).
Hi, does the computer program to load and control de Crazyflie and all telemetries runs on Mac without parallels or you must use on windows? Is there a android version to use OTG?
Yes, it should run on native Mac OSX. There are install instructions on our wiki (wiki.bitcraze.se). Yes, there's an OTG android client. The code is available at

With this kit comes a 2x5 pins 1.27mm (0.05
The extra header is used for JTAG programming and debugging. It's not mandatory to solder it unless you plan on using this feature.
First of all, you've made a great project!!But i was wondering if it was possible too add a cam and a transceiver, isn't too heavy, if it is, what are my possibility to make some FPV short distance whith your project ?Thx.
The D6 on J18 has four pins: GND,VCC,digital 7,digital 6. More information you can refer to the schematic of motor shield : http://www.seeedstudio.com/wik...
Do you have an estimate of when this may be back in stock?
Yep, I have same problem with this shield. I think to buy onother shield.
can i send a comand to the crazyfile nano with my laptop and let it fly on by itself in a simple straight line without the computer? I have an unusual aplication where the nano flys in one direction wile tethered to a secured pole,,,
Hi,the maximum voltage provided to motor shield is 15v.
Has anyone written code to implement the compass and altitude sensors yet. Where would it be posted if it was out?
Hi,Jerry,Here is the motor shield wiki page.you can get this shield information from this page-------http://www
Is this compatible with the JR DSM2/DMSS transmitter?
It could be compatible with a transmitter using the Nordic radio chip (like the E-Sky transmitter). As far as we know the JR DSM2/DMSS doesn't use this chip and is therefore not compatible.
What is the best joystick to control a Crazyflie?
The best one I've seen is a USB PlayStation 3 controller.
At the reception of the parcel, before starting to weld, I tested the crazyflie by connecting it to my pc.The green and red LEDs(D5,D6) light up weakly and both blue LEDs (D7, D8)are off.
What should I do?
Please go to our support forum at forum.bitcraze.se and we will do our best to help you there.
- is it possible to extend the platform to have extra sensors, such as ultrasonic sensors and IR sensors?- is the platform compatible with arduino boards/shields?- What language is used to do the programming thing? I am planning to develop posi
Yes, there's an expansion interface so you could add extra electronics. It's not compatible with Arduino shields. The programming is done in C on the Crazyflie and Python on the PC side.
I never had something like this.My friend bought this for my birthday. And Im a technology noob!I assembled the quadcopter.
Now I have a nano quadcopter and a USB-Thing with an antenna.I dont have a controller. I dont kn
Go to our webpage at www.bitcraze.se to get more information on how to use it.
i think we all want to see the camera in the trailer. that will tip me over the edge.
Hi there, The software is not opensource. So sorry that we can't provide the source code for you.
Crazyflie can be controlled from a computer or just a joystick?
It has been assembled.
is this product in stock??? i need urgently. i am from pakistan.. how many days required for whole process???
Hi,it is instock now, please place a order online directly, you can use DHL/FEDEX,it is faster than others, thank you!

I was just wondering when this product will be in stock again?
Please kindly click " Notify Me " button and you will receive an email when it is in stock
If I were to cut the arms off of the circuit board, would that damage the functionality of the quadcopter?
Just make sure not to "break" them off, since this kind of force might affect the MEMS sensors. The best would be to cur or saw them off.
