About the Maker

Mitch Altman is a San Francisco-based hacker and inventor, best known for inventing TV-B-Gone, as featured speaker at hacker conferences, as an international expert on the hackerspace movement, and for teaching introductory electronics workshops. He is also Chief Scientist and CEO of Cornfield Electronics. He is the creator of this cool product.

Anyone can learn to solder! This kit was designed for people who have never made anything before. Simple step-by-step instructions show you how. Once you finish, you get a trippy mood light that changes colors on its own. If you have a few of them, then you get interactive colored-light art!

Imagine a bunch of little lights, each about the size of a chess piece. Each one continually slowly changes colors on its own...until you disturb them!
When you wave your hand over them, it creates waves of colors that follow your hand.

It takes about 90 minutes to make this kit.

The Trippy RGB Waves kit is an Open Hardware project. All of the documentation (hardware and firmware) is available on the project’s website.
