Join the TinyML Challenge 2022 to Create Smart Weather Stations to Win $8000 in Prizes

Hey community,

A piece of exciting news to share is that Seeed Studio is honored and happy to join the tinyML Challenge, organized by United Nations’ ITU in conjunction with the tinyML Foundation, as a partner together with tinyMLEdu, International Centre for Theoretical Physics, and Edge Impulse. The first edition of the tinyML Challenge, which is also one of the AI for Good events, aims to create a low-cost, low-power, reliable, accurate, easy to install and maintain weather station, with no mechanical moving parts for measuring all weather conditions with a focus on rain and wind, based on TinyML, that can be deployed locally. This weather station could be deployed on a farm, for example, to provide local conditions and assist farmers in deciding when to plant crops.

Timeline of the tinyML Challenge (Smart Weather Station)

Prize of the tinyML Challenge (Smart Weather Station)

  • 1st place prize: $3,000
  • 2nd place prize: $2,000
  • 3rd place prize: $1,000

Being a partner of the tinyML Challenge, we’ll sponsor a SenseCAP S1000 10-in-1 Compact Weather Sensor with CO2 Measurement as an additional prize to the 1st place winning team. It’s a compact powerful and precise CO2 emission-ready weather station valued at $2,199. It measures air temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, light intensity, rainfall (optical), PM2.5, PM10, wind speed, wind direction (ultrasonic), and CO2. It is ideal for applications for carbon and environment monitoring. More details about the prize product can be found here.

Moreover, in order to support all challenge participants to develop a fully functioning rugged, and cost-effective weather station, we’re also offering all of our TinyML-native products at a special discount (20% off for all products listed on this landing page). In this way, you can use these Seeed products to build your smart weather station solution to detect all weather parameters including TPH (temperature, pressure, and humidity), wind, and rain.
