MDBT42Q is a BT 4.0, BT 4.1 and BT 4.2 stack (Bluetooth low energy or BLE) module designed based on Nordic nRF52832 SoC solution, which incorporates: GPIO, SPI, UART, I2C, I2S, PWM and ADC interfaces for connecting peripherals and sensors.

Hi there, Our module is only pre-programmed with Raytac’s testing code which is used at the factory for functionality testing. Bootloader is not included. You can follow reference circuit in our spec sheet to connect the module and will see BLE advertisement “MDBT42Q” on BLE search when connections are successful.
To program the module, you can either use Segger J-link or any nRF5X DK you have. Both are officially recommended by Nordic. thanks.

nRF52832 supports ANT protocol, but the ANT SDK relating info should be downloaded from Dynastream website as below link:
ANT SDK is not available for free downloading and development any more from Nordic website starts from product line SoC nRF52832.
Customer will be charged the ANT protocol Authorization fee after development by Dynastream. We have external Antenna applicable module with nRF52840, P/N: MDBT50Q-U1M, **https://www.seeedstudio.com/MDBT50Q-U1M-nRF52840-Based-BLE-Module-p-3149.html** thanks.

I use a JLink segger to program the module and after that I can reprogram it using the UART, I like the Adafruit solution since they let you program it right from the Arduino IDE and that makes life very easy. I can reprogram the name that one sees in scanning for devices though, but one can set the 'local name' and even things like peripheral information from within your Arduino sketch.
