Hands-On Edge AI Workshop for Educators at ASEE 2025 Open for Registration

The session opens with an insightful talk by Prof. Vijay Janapa Reddi from Harvard University, a renowned expert in AI systems and one of the minds behind Machine Learning Systems—a living, open-source book that bridges the gap between ML theory and real-world deployment. His talk will unpack the pedagogical value of AI at the edge and how it can empower the next generation of engineers. Following this, Prof. Marcelo Rovai from Federal University of Itajubá, Brazil, a leader in embedded systems education, will guide a hands-on tutorial using Arm-based development platforms like the Grove Vision AI Module V2 equipped with the Himax WiseEye2 HX6538 processor running on Arm Cortex-M55 & Ethos-U55. You’ll train and deploy AI models for real-time vision applications—all on hardware accessible and affordable enough for undergraduate labs.
