Specifically, the kit’s three-axis accelerometer first collects vibration data from the device, which is processed by XIAO ESP32-S3 before being fed into the GEDAD algorithm for analysis. The GEDAD algorithm establishes a baseline template by learning normal vibration patterns and identifies anomalies using Euclidean distance calculations. Meanwhile, the SenseCraft AI platform provides an intuitive user interface that enables users to easily perform data collection, model training, parameter adjustment, and real-time monitoring, making this professional vibration detection algorithm readily applicable to real-world scenarios for engineers and maintenance personnel.

GEDAD (Gyroscope Euclidean Distance Anomaly Detection) is a lightweight algorithm designed for detecting abnormal vibrations in mechanical systems. It’s one of the first core algorithms within our R&D team’s cross-platform framework AcousticsLab for sound and vibration analysis. It works in two phases: first, it learns what “normal” vibration looks like by collecting a short sample of data during normal operation and creating a template. Then, in real-time monitoring, it compares new vibration data against this template using Euclidean distance calculations. If the new data matches closely with the template, it’s considered normal; if it differs significantly, it’s flagged as abnormal. What makes GEDAD particularly practical is that it requires minimal training data, runs efficiently on simple microcontrollers, and doesn’t need examples of abnormal behavior to work effectively – making it ideal for real-world applications in predictive maintenance and equipment monitoring.
