Maker Faire Shenzhen 2025 Wrap-Up: Bring AI Robotics to Life!

We’ve successfully wrapped up Maker Faire Shenzhen 2025 on November 16, bringing together global makers, hardware innovators, and AI developers for two days of hands-on exploration and reunion! Organized by Chaihuo Makerspace with Seeed Studio and Make Community as strategic partners, the event featured 2 innovation forums, 145 frontier tech showcases, and 29 workshops. Nearly a hundred international innovation ambassadors joined from over 30 countries, making the summit a vibrant hub of ideas, prototypes, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. With strong support from Seeed Studio, this year’s event also launched the “Innovation Ambassador Program”, inviting thought leaders and experts to share their maker journeys and lessons learned.

Across the venue, attendees explored a wide mix of AI hardware projects, interactive installations, and rapid-prototyping demos. The maker community exchanged practical know-how—from robotics to 3D printing to real-world AI applications.

For me, two parts of the event stood out the most as I deeply joined in as part of the organization: supporting the Hugging Face booth for booth presentation, and co-organizing the Embodied AI Forum hosted by Comtech and Seeed Studio. Both moments captured the energy of open-source collaboration and the growing momentum of Physical AI.

Hugging Face Booth – Open-Source and Frontier Innovation

Hugging Face joined this year as an Empowering Partner, bringing its open-source AI ecosystem and community spirit directly to Shenzhen. Known for diverse contributions such as: Transformers, Diffusers, Datasets, Spaces, and now LeRobot platform for Embodied AI development, Hugging Face continues to make advanced AI tools accessible to developers worldwide. The platform’s collaborative culture—where individual makers, labs, and companies contribute models and ideas—has become a catalyst for innovation across software and hardware. In robotics, Hugging Face is increasingly bridging simulation and real-world deployment through LeRobot ecosystem with plenty tutorials and practical hardware toolkits.

At the booth, we showcased a series of open-source robot kits promoted by Seeed Studio and Hugging Face, covering both manipulation and mobile robotics. Highlights included the SO-ARM101 teleoperation kit, the LeKiwi mobile manipulation robot, the Amazing Hand dexterous hand, and the HopeJR robotic arm.

But the absolute star of the show was the newly released Reachy Mini desktop companion robot—developed by Hugging Face Pollen Robotics team and fully open-source. With smooth HMI interaction, expressive motions, and multilingual voice conversation, Reachy Mini instantly became the “social king” of the booth!

Reachy Mini Highlights

  • Developer-friendly with Python SDK + simulation support
  • Built-in 4-mic array with AEC for clear audio capture
  • Multimodal understanding: vision + audio + natural responses
  • Seamless multilingual chatting: English / Spanish / French / Chinese

Comtech x Seeed Studio Embodied AI Developer Forum – Robot System Integration and Physical AI Architecture

The “Embodied AI Developer Forum – Fusion of Modular, Jetson Compute, and Integration Ecosystems” forum focused on the layered design of modern robotics systems and how edge compute, sensing, actuation, and control algorithms can be efficiently integrated. Jointly organized by Comtech and Seeed Studio, the forum brought together industry experts to discuss reference architectures that accelerate Physical AI development.

NVIDIA shared insights on its Physical AI ecosystem and Jetson roadmap, while Seeed Studio introduced system design practices for Jetson Thor carrier boards and integration workflows. Ecosystem partners also showcased next-generation vision modules and joint actuators for real-world robot deployment, including Sensing, Lightwheel, Robstride Dynamics, Union Power Inc., TAKS Robotics, and Tech KOL Zihao Zhang.

Discussions also explored how to design cost-effective humanoid robot architectures within a sub-$200 hardware budget, along with strategies for scalable data collection and building generalizable robotics models. These exchanges offered a practical roadmap for developers striving to move from prototypes to real-world embodied intelligence.

A dedicated demo area brought these concepts to life. Attendees saw Jetson Thor running real-time VLA (Vision-Language-Action) applications and Hugging Face’s LeRobot framework powering open-source robotic arms – Fashion Star StarAI arm kit. The dual-arm demonstrations showcased fast, coordinated data-collection pipelines—highlighting how simulation-to-reality workflows can accelerate embodied AI training. Together, these demos illustrated how Physical AI is becoming tangible, accessible, and ready for deployment in practical applications.

Its long-term role in enabling advanced hardware ecosystems made it a fitting co-organizer for this embodied intelligence forum.

It was such an amazing two-day journey—meeting friends from all around the world, exchanging fresh ideas, and sharing warm hugs at Maker Faire Shenzhen 2025. Even though the event has officially come to a close, the stories of makers and innovations continue. We’d like to give a heartfelt thank-you to every ecosystem partner whose great support made this vibrant, inspiring, and possibility-filled gathering possible!

As Eric Pan, founder of Seeed Studio & Chaihuo Makerspace, has shared, a new generation of makers is more confident and ready to create real change. Maker Faire Shenzhen exists to be a stage where creativity, resilience, and open innovation come together to shape the future, not only the general topic of AI, but also expanding it to Embodied AI/Physical AI to make the world more seamless interactive, bringing technology closer to everyday life. We hope this whole platform will keep uniting global makers and usher in an era where AI, open-source, and limitless creativity spark the “rebirth of everything”!
