Seeed Studio Featured in a Chinese College English Textbook
We’re excited to share a meaningful milestone: Seeed Studio has been featured in an official English textbook used by college students across China, New Progressive College English – Integrated Course.
The textbook includes a chapter titled “Lessons of a Hackerspace,” which explores the rise of maker culture in China—and highlights Seeed Studio’s role in supporting global makers and experimental hardware innovation.
The chapter tells the story of how hackerspaces like Xinchejian, Chaihuo Maker Space (a fab lab powered by Seeed Studio) empowered young creators to learn by doing, collaborating openly, and turning ideas into real-world projects. Within this context, Seeed Studio is introduced as a key player in Shenzhen, working with makers worldwide to transform hardware designs into prototypes and small-batch products. It emphasizes Seeed’s role in bridging creativity and manufacturing, and how this approach complements traditional large-scale production rather than replacing it.
Being included in a nationally used textbook is more than an honor—it’s a recognition of the maker spirit we believe in: lowering barriers, encouraging experimentation, and helping people turn curiosity into creation. We’re proud to see the maker movement, and Seeed Studio’s journey within it, becoming part of how students learn about innovation, technology, and modern culture in China.
