The reComputer R1000 is a high-performance and cost-effective edge IoT controller based on Raspberry Pi solution. It features dual Ethernet interfaces and three isolated RS485 interfaces, supporting Modbus UDP/TCP and BACnet protocols, which makes it a perfect fit for smart building and energy management, such as controlling HVAC systems and other subsystems like lighting, sensors, and access control. With powerful IoT expansion capabilities, reComputer R1000 is integrated with various wireless transmission capabilities such as 4G, LoRa®, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, and BLE through internal slots.

Hardware and Interface Overview

The 3 isolated RS485 and dual ethernet interfaces are worth special highlighting. The dual ethernet ports ensure continuous and reliable network connectivity which is important for the uninterrupted operation of critical systems under industrial applications.

RS485 supports long-distance communication, in smart buildings, devices may be distributed across different floors or areas, requiring reliable and efficient communication over extended distances. RS485 ensures reliable data transmission throughout the building without significant loss of signal quality. The 3 isolated RS485 allows interoperability between diverse devices, such as HVAC systems, lighting controls, security systems, and energy meters, to seamlessly communicate with each other.

Apart from on-chip Wi-Fi and BLE, another special feature is its two mini-PCIe slots to enable rich wireless capabilities, like LTE, USB LoRa®, and USB Zigbee.
