Davide – One year as Ranger and Technological Storyteller
We are at that time of year – at least for those who celebrate and see the transition from December 31 to January 1 as a new year -when we try to take stock, try to understand what we have managed to achieve compared to what we set out to do, what didn’t work, and what we would like to do better next year.
Alison asked me to talk about what I did as a ranger in this strange year of 2025, and without wanting to take up too much of your time, I think I can summarize my busy 2025 in two areas (which sometimes overlap): The Meshiverse and TinyML & AI.
The Meshiverse: I have spent a great deal of time testing, promoting, and implementing the use of Mesh networks (mostly Meshtastic, but keeping an eye of interest towards Meshcore and Reticulum) in various areas: at major European Transformetional festivals and also as a fun tool for learning about an event: the Radio Game (held during Maker Faire Shenzhen a month ago)
I had su much fun in creating several tutorials devoted to some themes, like the Rotasenso (for Valentines Days back in february) and Meshbot, a Meshtastic based bot.

TinyML & AI: Artificial Intelligence is entering our lives in many different ways. Through Seeed and the use of Sensecraft, I have explored its use for TinyML and had the opportunity to bring this and other stories to workshops in Milan and Budapest in 2025, as well as within my five annual IoT & Physical Computing courses. In the video, there is a playful reference to my course at the Marangoni Institute.
Have a good start for 2026! Buon fine anno!
