Description

TheGrove - Moisture Sensor can be used to detect the moisture of soil, to judge if there is dampness around the sensor. It can be used to decide if the plants in a garden need watering. It can be used in gardens to automate watering plants. It can be used very easily by just inserting the sensor into the soil and reading the output using ADC.

NOTE:This sensor is not hardened against contamination or exposure of the control circuitry to water and may be prone to electrolytic corrosion across the probes , please use it for PROTOTYPING ONLY.

      Features

      • Grove compatible interface

helloPlease I want to know if the output of this sensorgives directly the value of relative humidity or a voltage that I have to convert it?

Hi,if you use the example code we offered,it's not a value of a voltage. It's a number relate to humidity. But it's not a precise one, instead just positive correlation.

What about durability? can it support six month under ground?

Probably yes, but there are too many variables to consider. I would say 4 to 8 months as maximum and maybe you can prolong it life using it not often (1 reading every 10 or 30 minutes or even longer). The problem is the design. Also consider that you use this sensor to monitor edible plants there is the risk of contamination, the copper of the electrodes will end up in the soil and thus the plant.Would be nice if Groove would do a capacitive moisture sensor instead.

When I use this sensor in water, is it possible to detect how much of the sensor electrodes is under water, i.e. use this sensor as a water level indicator?

You'll have to select the 5cmx10cm option. Always select the option where both dimensions are greater than your actual dimensions.

The ordner number can be anywhere on your silkscreen, I always put it where I have room for it and create a little
