      It means that after the sensor detects motion, it will hold its output high for 20 seconds. Also, it is not retriggerable, which means that if there&amp;#39;s more motion after the first motion, it won&amp;#39;t stay on for longer, but will turn off 20 seconds after the first motion. See my question about modifying it.

      Can it be modified to reduce the holding time and/or enable retriggering? These features would be useful in a microcontroller application.

      Yes!To reduce the holding time, replace the timing resistor and capacitor with ones of lower value. The timing capacitor is on the underside of the board (same side as the 8-pin chip) next to the board&amp;#39;s output pin and the chip&amp;#39;s pin 5, and the timing resistor is also on the underside of the board, next to the board&amp;#39;s Vcc pin and the chip&amp;#39;s pin 8. The stock values are 1.6 nF for the capacitor and 510 k&Omega; for the resistor. The minimum value for the resistor is 100 k&Omega;. A simple way to reduce the hold time is to just remove the timing capacitor, replacing it with nothing. This worked for me but may not be reliable.To enable retriggering, disconnect pin 7 of the chip from ground and connect it to Vcc.
