High Tour <3 Shenzhen (Japan Mix, Day 1)
Another High Tour to Shenzhen Factories after Maker Faire Shenzhen, this is designed special for Japanese makers.
The open hardware manufacturing tour includes four factories, presenting two kinds of factories in South of China.
- PCB Plant: provide clean and working PCB for us to make boards
- Molding Factories: including injection molding, CNC & punching
How PCB is made
Here’s a common two-sided printed circuit board processing, it needs 16 steps for each batch of board for 12 hours at least. The factories is cut into two pieces: one is for extremely clean(dust-free) room.
Raw materials – copper are send into production line. There’s a hidden process which prepare the photo tools to make the film from the gerber files. Those panels will be exposed to ultraviolet light.

The next step is to drill and plating the holes for DIP.
Picture: adjust the knife of V-Cutting machine to fit a specific board.
A tip is to make a V-cutting board so you can take them down quickly.
