New Product Post: Industrial IoT Product Series – SenseCAP LoRaWAN Sensors

Seeed IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) product release – SenseCAP LoRaWAN Wireless Sensors EU868

We believe the world is expecting a wave of digital transformation, among which IoT (Internet of Things) will be playing a crucial role. And a reliable physical sensing network is the foundation of this transformation. Seeed is dedicated to providing industrial IoT (IIoT) solutions for system integrators and service providers to collect physical data that are vital to various industrial applications. You will be seeing more IIoT products from Seeed, among which SenseCAP will be among the first release.

SenseCAP focuses on wireless environmental sensing applications: smart agriculture, precision farming, and smart city, to name a few. It consists of hardware products (sensors, data-loggers & gateways, etc.), software services (SenseCAP portal, mobile App, open dashboard), and API for device & data management. SenseCAP supports different communication protocols, such as LR, 2G, 4G, NB-IoT, and more.

SenseCAP LoRaWAN sensors can work with any standard LoRaWAN gateways. Seeed also provides SenseCAP LoRaWAN Gateway (coming soon) for you to use with SenseCAP Sensors seamlessly without extra huge workload for provisioning.

In this week’s new product post, we’ll introduce 5 SenseCAP LoRaWAN sensors – EU868 (US915 frequency coming soon). SenseCAP LoRaWAN sensor adopts a modular design, which integrates the data-logger and the sensor probe into one. And the sensor probe part is replaceable by other SenseCAP LoRaWAN sensor probes.

Each SenseCAP LoRaWAN Sensor incorporates a built-in LR transmitter based on SX1276 for long-range transmission (2~10km), a custom battery and a high-quality sensor. It is designed with industry standards, specifically optimized for user cases powering end devices by batteries for years. The default data transmission interval is 1 hour, and users can change the frequency to their own needs, with the minimum interval of 5 minutes.

Now let’s have a brief look at the 5 new products.

SenseCAP Wireless Soil Moisture & Temperature Sensor – LoRaWAN EU868

This product measures soil volumetric water content (VWC) and soil temperature at the range of 0 ~ 100% (m³/m³) and -30 ~ 70℃ respectively. It’s IP66 rated, suitable to be used in outdoor severe environments such as water-saving irrigation, outdoor fields, greenhouses, just to name a few.

SenseCAP Wireless Air Temperature & Humidity Sensor – LoRaWAN EU868

This sensor measures temperature and humidity in the atmosphere at the range of -40℃ to 85℃ and 0 to 100 %RH (non-condensing) respectively. Its data logger part is IP66 rated, and the sensor probe is IP65 rated, applicable for both outdoor and indoor environmental sensing scenarios. The sensor probe design has taken measures to make sure the temperature data won’t be affected by direct exposure to sunlight.

SenseCAP Wireless CO2 Sensor – LoRaWAN EU868

This sensor measures the level of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas at the range of 0 ~ 40000 ppm in the atmosphere, applicable for indoor environments. The data logger part is equipped with an IP66 waterproof enclosure. To ensure accuracy and sensitivity, we chose the material with the optimal breathable aperture for the sensor probe, which however is not waterproof. It’s dust-proof, making it perfect for environments where there is heavy dust such as chicken farms.

SenseCAP Wireless Light Intensity Sensor – LoRaWAN EU868

This sensor measures the intensity of light in lux from 0 – 188000 lux, which is designed for application scenarios such as smart agriculture, smart city, and weather stations, and other outdoor environmental sensing environments.

SenseCAP Wireless Barometric Pressure Sensor – LoRaWAN EU868

This sensor measures atmospheric pressure in the range of 300~1100 hPa. Featuring high-precision, stability, and high EMC robustness, this sensor is suitable for industrial IoT applications such as weather stations, outdoor farms, tea plantations, greenhouses, and more.

Before the official launch of these products, we have applied field tests in China, New Zealand, Europe, and the US, and sold 100+ sets to our first-tier customers and their feedback is very positive. Please see more info about SenseCAP user cases below.
