ACM SenSys 2023, organized by Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) in Bahcesehir University in Istanbul, is the 21st ACM Conference on Embedded Networked Sensor Systems, and it introduces a highly selective, single-track platform for researching system issues related to sensors and broadly defined sensor-enabled smart systems. Scheduled on Sunday, November 12, the Anatomy of a Sensor and LoRaWAN Tutorial will provide an introduction to sensors and LoRaWAN technologies. Curated and designed by Rasit Eskicioglu, Associate Professor at University of Manitoba, and Reha Yurdakul, Guest Lecturer at Bilkent Universitythe tutorial covers fundamental design principles and presenting a solution architecture for a sensor network that utilizes the LoRaWAN communication platform. The tutorial will be divided into two parts:

Part I – Theory

  • General architecture of a sensor network
  • Design considerations
  • Communication alternatives for sensor devices
  • Introduction to LoRaWAN
  • A case study

Part II – Hands-On

  • Set up a sensor device
