At Seeed Studio, we’re always on a mission to make cutting-edge technologies easier and more accessible. That’s why we’re excited to introduce this LPWAN Asset Tracker Dev Kit for Amazon Sidewalk based on our Wio Tracker 1110, designed to simplify how you build indoor and outdoor tracking solutions on the emerging Amazon Sidewalk network. This new open source kit empowers you to do that faster, and with less complexity.
Embracing Amazon Sidewalk with LPWAN Asset Tracker Dev Kit
Amazon Sidewalk is a secure, always-on community network that uses Amazon Sidewalk Gateways (such as compatible Amazon Echo and Ring devices), to provide cloud connectivity for IoT endpoint devices. Already accessible to more than 90% of the U.S. population, Amazon Sidewalk leverages long-range, low-bandwidth connectivity at home and beyond (Bluetooth Low Energy for short-distance communication and LoRa and FSK radio protocols for longer distances), offering the potential for battery-saving benefits without the costs associated with cellular data or the limited range of Wi-Fi.
*Note. We’ve published a new blog post centering around LPWAN connectivity, where you can explore four of the most promising and rapidly emerging LPWAN technologies of LoRaWAN, Amazon Sidewalk, Helium, and Cat-M. By delving into their features, real-world applications, and a head-to-head comparison, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of these LPWAN options to select the best LPWAN solution for your IoT needs. Powered by the Semtech LR1110 and Nordic nRF52840 chips, the LPWAN Asset Tracker Dev Kit is an open source platform that utilizes GNSS/Wi-Fi/Bluetooth for seamless indoor & outdoor location tracking. As IoT continues to evolve, networks like Amazon Sidewalk will play a crucial role in enabling new infrastructure and connecting devices. With an native firmware, LPWAN Asset Tracker Dev Kit, based on the Wio Tracker 1110 Dev Board, provides a robust and reliable way for developers to build tracking solutions that are compatible with Amazon Sidewalk. With our comprehensive qualification and the support of our Sidewalk test kit, we are excited to help developers leverage the power of Amazon Sidewalk in their tracking solutions.
Multiple positioning technologies: GNSS for outdoor positioning, Wi-Fi Sniffer and Bluetooth scanning for indoor positioning. The ability to seamlessly transition between outdoor and indoor activities eliminates the need for separate trackers, simplifying the process and reducing costs. This all-encompassing approach ensures reliable and accurate location tracking while streamlining complexity.
Onboard temperature sensor, humidity sensor, and a 3-axis accelerometer: Capturing a wide range of environmental and motion data together with location data, making it ideal for a variety of location-based applications
Supports over 300+ Grove sensors: a series of peripheral interfaces and supports ADC/UART and IIC transmission protocols, which can be connected to 300+ Grove sensor modules, enabling easy upgrades to smarter solutions
Fully open source platform: Leverage the extensive LR1110 and nRF52840 open-source ecosystem for infinite application possibilities
One-stop customization and manufacturing for your scale-up: the LPWAN Asset Tracker Dev Kit is open sourced as a reference design, and we also offer one-stop Fusion customization and manufacturing services to support you to bring your PoCs to scale up projects. Our production facilities align with the Sidewalk manufacturing flow, adhering to the stringent requirements set by Amazon Sidewalk. Our services cover full-stack customization, from cloud-connected hardware to software.
Preventing theft and optimizing asset utilization has never been easier with Amazon Sidewalk and LPWAN Asset Tracker Dev Kit. This open, low-power, high-precision GPS tracking kit provides vital location and movement history data, so you can easily customise a demo tracker to protect and recover your most important assets. Configure the kit to track anything: from heavy equipment on a mine site to trailers, pets and bicycles.
P.S. At AWS re:Invent 2023, the AWS IoT team curated a step-by-step tutorial and organised an IOT303 Asset Tracking Workshop where around 200 developers built their first asset-tracking solutions based on this kit together with the Amazon Sidewalk network, AWS IoT Core, and Amazon Location Service. A big shout-out to the AWS IoT team for the curation and their valuable input and feedback to make this kit even better. More details about the workshop can be found here.
