Seeed Ranger 2025 Wrapped: A Year at the Edge of Innovation

“And just like that… the 2025 season comes to an end.”

Some years are measured in months.

Some in milestones.
This one was measured in workshops, blinking LEDs, first-time model deployments, curious questions, and that unmistakable moment when someone realizes: ‘Wait… I just ran AI on this tiny board?’

2025, as a Seeed Ranger, was not just about teaching TinyML or IoT.
It was about planting ideas, lowering entry barriers, and turning curiosity into confidence—one hands-on experience at a time..

Here’s the story of that journey, from the first ignition spark to the final showcase on Makerfaire Shenzhen.

January 2025 — IGNITE: Where It All Began

📍 IGNITE: TinyML Hands-on Workshop

Event Date: January 29,2025

Every journey needs a starting point.
For 2025, it was IGNITE.

This workshop marked the first major step of the year—introducing students to TinyML, edge intelligence, and the idea that machine learning doesn’t belong only in data centers. It belongs on the edge, on microcontrollers, in the hands of students.

Using XIAO ESP32S3 Sense and Grove Vision AI V2, participants trained, deployed, and tested their very first TinyML models.
For many, this was their first interaction with AI that wasn’t abstract—it was physical, tangible, and alive.

IGNITE wasn’t just a workshop.
It was a signal: this year is going to be different.

March 2025 — TinyML Meets Young Minds

📍 TinyML Workshop at Sobhana Public School

Event Date: February 21

A few days later, the journey continued into another classroom filled with curiosity and excitement..

At Sobhana Public School, TinyML was introduced not as a complex technology, but as a story—how machines can “see,” “hear,” and “decide,” even with limited resources.

Students watched models respond in real time, asked fearless questions, and imagined futures where AI solves everyday problems.
This session reinforced a core belief of the year:

The earlier we expose students to technology, the more naturally they innovate with it later.

April 2025 — From Ideas to Prototypes

📍 XIAO Workshop – Co-Create Program

Event Date: March 29 and April 3

April was about building.

As part of the Co-Create Program by the MACE IoT Club, the workshop moved beyond theory and into hands-on creation. By working with the XIAO ecosystem, participants experienced how small yet powerful modular hardware can accelerate the journey from an idea to a functional prototype.

This wasn’t about polished final products.
It was about iteration, experimentation, and the confidence to say:

“I can build this myself.”

July 2025 — IGNITE, Revisited

📍 IGNITE: TinyML Hands-on Workshop

Event Date: July 23, 2025

By mid-year, IGNITE returned—this time at St. Augustine’s Girls Higher Secondary School.

With a refined structure and deeper hands-on focus, students trained models using SenseCraft AI, deployed vision models, and experienced how AI behaves on low-power devices.

The excitement was immediate—and contagious.
Students experimented even before instructions were complete, proving something powerful:

When tools are accessible, curiosity takes over.

August 2025 — Evoke 2025: IoT on Display

📍 Evoke 2025 – Hardware Expo

Event Date: August 2, 2025

August was different.
This wasn’t a workshop—it was a celebration.

Evoke 2025, a student-led IoT hardware expo at MACE, brought together 40 teams from across Kerala, each showcasing how IoT can solve real-world problems—from healthcare to agriculture to automation.

Sponsored by Seeed Studio, Evoke transformed classrooms into exhibition floors and ideas into conversations.
It was proof that students don’t just learn faster when given the right tools—they build bolder.

September 2025 — Two Days. Countless Breakthroughs.

📍 2-Day TinyML & IoT Workshop – Takshak’25

Event Dates: September 19–20, 2025

If there was a turning point in the year, this was it.

As part of Takshak’25, MACE’s annual tech fest, a 2-day immersive TinyML & IoT workshop brought together students from multiple colleges for a start-to-finish edge AI journey.

  • Day 1:
TinyML fundamentals, Teachable Machine, SenseCraft AI, vision models on XIAO and Grove Vision AI V2
  • Day 2:
Arduino basics, hardware control using inference results, and audio-based TinyML with Edge Impulse

Students built models capable of detecting keywords, vehicle movement, and even gunshot-like sounds—all running on compact, low-power hardware.

A special highlight was the session by Alison Yang, Seeed Studio’s Community Manager, who shared insights on TinyML, IoT, and Maker Faire Shenzhen, sparking global curiosity in a local classroom.

For many participants, this workshop wasn’t just educational—it was direction-defining.

The Finale — Maker Faire Shenzhen

📍 Maker Faire Shenzhen | EleTect

The year wrapped up at Maker Faire Shenzhen 2025, where I was invited as an Innovation Ambassador and exhibited EleTect – a TinyML-based edge AI system for elephant detection and deterrence, focused on addressing human–wildlife conflict.

It was a refreshing space to come across a wide range of innovative ideas, meet makers working on diverse problems, and exchange perspectives. That shared curiosity and openness became the quiet highlight — the cherry on top of the year’s journey.

And With That… The 2025 Season Comes to an End

2025 wasn’t about numbers.
It was about moments:

  • A student running their first model
  • A classroom realizing AI can run offline
  • A prototype turning into purpose

As a Seeed Ranger, this year reaffirmed one thing:

When powerful tools meet open communities, innovation becomes inevitable.

Here’s to everything built, taught, learned—and everything still waiting to be imagined.

Until the next season.
