Description
The Multi-ranger deck gives the Crazyflie 2.X the ability to detect objects around it. The multi-ranger deck is equipped with 5 VL53L1x ToF sensors to measure the distance. Each of the sensors is connected to a GPIO extender that can individuall reset the sensors.
To get the most out of your Multi-ranger it should be paired with a Flow deck V2, which will measure the movement along the ground and the distance to the ground. It gives the Crazyflie the capability to sense the space around it and could react when something is close and for instance avoid obstacles.
It also allows starting working on environment-aware problems like Simultaneous Localization And Mapping (SLAM) algorithms.
Applications
The STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) ranging bundle is based on a Crazyflie 2.X with a Flow deck v2 and a Multi-ranger deck. It is an autonomous drone that can be controlled from a simple python script to explore and operate a robot in 3 dimensions. It has the ability to detect obstacles around it.
