PRODUCT DETAILS

Crazyradio 2.0 is a long-range open USB radio dongle that allows you to control and communicate wirelessly with Crazyflie 2.X. It features with a 20dBm power amplifier and LNA. It is a suitable building block for systems that need more predictable latency than WiFi and do not have the same requirements for bandwidth because it is an open project with open firmware and a Python API.

Note

  • Crazyradio 2.0 is not compatible with custom firmware made for the Crazyradio PA nRF24 MCU (for instance various security firmware projects) since it's based on a newer nRF52 chipset.

Feature

  • Strong Output Power: Radio power amplifier giving 20dBm output power

  • Abundant resources: Open source firmware and firmware upgrade via USB

  • Low latency : 2Mbps, 1Mbps and 250Kps can reduce the delay rate between communications

  • Debug connector

Description

The Crazyradio 2.0 is not only for usage together with the Crazyflie family of devices, since it’s an open project with open firmware and a Python API, it’s a great building block for systems that require more predictable latency compared to WiFi and doesn’t have the same requirements for bandwidth. The hardware comes with a bootloader that enables firmware upgrades via USB without any additional hardware needed.

FAQ

  • For how long can the Crazyflie 2.X fly?

It can fly up to 7 minutes and depending on how you fly it, the time will decrease.

  • How is the Crazyflie 2.X charged?

It is charged using a standard micro-USB connector commonly used by smartphones. You probably have one of these cables at home. You can charge it from any USB unit that can supply 500mA, most computers and adapters do. It takes up to 40min to charge and the blue LED (M3) will tell you roughly how charged it is by how long it is lit. When it is fully lit it is fully charged.

  • Can I hot swap batteries on the Crazyflie 2.X?

Yes, you can hot swap batteries.

  • Can I use a bigger battery on the Crazyflie 2.X?

Yes, as long as it is not too heavy, it is a single cell (3.7V), it fits and the polarity is correct you can do so. A higher capacity battery will give you longer flight times but will also decrease agility. We recommend batteries with at least 15C continuous discharge rate.
