Grove - Touch Sensor is based on TTP223-B touch detector IC.
Grove - Touch Sensor enables you to replace the press with touch. Grove - Touch Sensor measures the capacitance of a metallic pad and detects the change in capacitance when a finger is nearby. This is the same technology used in the iPhone touch screen. You can place the metallic pad under a non-metallic surface such as a plastic or glass sheet and it will still work as a button, which is useful for projects that have to be waterproof.
With the help of the touch sensor, you can also make a secret button by placing it inconspicuously behind a smooth surface. For instance, you could place them under a nonmetallic card table and by casually pressing the right location on a tabletop surface you could mysteriously control your DIY project.
Note
We've Released the Grove Selection Guide and hope to help you find the Grove suit you best.
Grove makes it easier to connect, experiment, and simplify the prototyping process. No jumpers or soldering required. We have developed more than 300 Grove modules, covering a wide range of applications that can fulfill a variety of needs. Not only are these open hardware, but we also have open-source software.
We've done all the hard work with example code and software libraries to help you to started with this sensor in just a few lines of code. Check our Wiki to learn more!
For all Grove users (especially beginners), we provide you guidance PDF documents. Please download and read through Preface - Getting Started and Introduction to Grove before your using of the product.
