Open Manufacture is the series where we share the behind-the-scenes stories, which often reveal the immense effort and thought that goes into creating exceptional products. Today, we’re excited to take you on a journey through the button design evolution of the SenseCAP T1000 LoRaWAN GPS Tracker.

The Quest for the Right Button

The button, though seemingly small, plays a pivotal role in the user experience of any device. It’s a tactile connection between the user and the technology. When designing the SenseCAP T1000, we knew that selecting the perfect button was crucial.

Our journey began with a meticulous review of specifications from hundreds of button suppliers. We had a clear requirement: the button’s thickness should ensure that the tracker’s total thickness didn’t exceed 6.5mm. This was a non-negotiable parameter.

After extensive evaluation, we narrowed down our options to four buttons that met our specifications. Each of these contenders had the potential to become the button for the SenseCAP T1000.

The Crucial Button Life Test

To ensure the reliability of our product, we subjected these four buttons to rigorous testing. One of the most critical tests was the button life test. We set an industry-standard baseline of 100,000 presses, a benchmark commonly seen in the mobile phone industry.

In the video below, you can witness the testing process. As of now, we’ve completed over 80,000 presses. Button Number ③ not only met but surpassed the 100,000-press test.

However, our commitment to quality doesn’t stop here. We will continue conducting further tests to ensure the utmost reliability of our product.
