PRODUCT DETAILS

Description

Raspberry Pi 4 Model B is the latest product in the popular Raspberry Pi range of computers. It offers ground-breaking increases in processor speed, multimedia performance, memory, and connectivity compared to the prior-generation Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ while retaining backward compatibility and similar power consumption. For the end-user, Raspberry Pi 4 Model B provides desktop performance comparable to entry-level x86 PC systems.

This product's key features include a high-performance 64-bit quad-core processor, dual-display support at resolutions up to 4K via a pair of micro-HDMI ports, hardware video decode at up to 4Kp60, up to 4GB of RAM, dual-band 2.4/5.0 GHz wireless LAN, Bluetooth 5.0, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0, and PoE capability (via a separate PoE HAT add-on).

The dual-band wireless LAN and Bluetooth have modular compliance certification, allowing the board to be designed into end products with significantly reduced compliance testing, improving both cost and time to market.

Utilizing the same computing power of the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, Broadcom BCM2711 processor, Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 is also available now at Seeed. There is dual HDMI, PCIe, Onboard Gigabit Ethernet, and eMMC that comes with the Compute Module 4 has optional onboard eMMC of 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB, starting from $25. Compute Module 4 is smaller in shape and suitable for integration into products.

Raspberry Pi 4 Add-ons

We've prepared lots of add-on for Raspberry Pi. All those hats, displays, cases, power suppliers, and other accessories will give the Raspberry Pi more features and possibilities. For Pi 4, we especially recommend the Grove Base Hat for Raspberry Pi, which links the Raspberry Pi to our Grove system, so you can easily use most of the Grove modules with your Raspberry Pi 4. Since the new pi changes the full HDMI interface into two micro HDMI ports, so you may need this Micro HDMI to HDMI Adapter to work with your HDMI display.

    Great little computer
I got the 4GB version to use as more of a linux computer at my work desk alongside my other computer. Pi's have been great for years, but this one is nearly usable as a regular computer, not just for side projects. It can multitask, run two screens, and has a surprising amount of features.

    Worked fine for me
This is my first RPI 4 board, and I found that I cloning the RPI OS from the other boards in a USB flash drive would not run the RPI 4 right away like previous versions. RPI 4 needs a fresh OS in a Micro SD card then using command lines to edit the OS before cloning the Micros SD in a USB flash drive to boot RPI 4 in a USB drive. I got all the instructions to do this online, so even beginners should have no problem finding instruction working with RPI.

    Raspberry pi are fun!
I'm a big IT/electronics guy. This is a fun widget to do things with. I'm not new to the Raspberry Pi ecosystem. I had purchased my RPi Model B (2011.12 silk screened under the logo) when they were still a new gadget. This was the latest purchase as opportunity to get and test new RPi hardware.

Great price, now have many more than I need!
a cheap Quad Core system, that can be taken out of the box, have linux running and online with access to the best educational tools your kids could have for the future. want them to learn to make robots? this board can help them learn motor control and AI, want them to learn programming, linux compilers are FREE, no paying hundreds of dollars for things like Microsofts Visual Studio to get your child started programming, want them to learn the linux operating system which drives most of your day to day technology, again heres where its at. do they just need a web browser to get online and do research, its got ya covered there too... anything from simple web browsing, to robotics, drones, high end clustering, even genetic research...all can be done with this little board.

If you have no home PC, this is must have!
Previous versions of the Raspberry Pi were limited by their power supplies and the relatively small amount of memory available. This one, especially with 4 GB, is much closer to a laptop or desktop computer.
