🛠️ How It Works (The Rules)
Step 1: Brainstorm Your Scenario
Think about a real-world problem that off-the-shelf sensors can’t solve. How would you combine our Human-Detecting Kit with other specific sensors (light, temperature, relays, etc.) to build a tailored solution?
Step 2: Submit Your Proposal
Click the link to fill out our short application form. Tell us:
The Problem: What specific problem or challenge are you currently facing with your smart setup?
The Scenario: What is your scenario automation design? (How will it work?)
The Hardware: What specific sensors or components do you need in total for this build?
Future Ideas: What other ESPHome DIY Kits are you looking forward to in the future?
Step 3: Hardware Seeding
Our team will review all submissions and select the top 5 proposals. If your proposal is selected, we will ship the complete Human-Detecting ESPHome DIY Kit to your door, 100% free of charge.
Step 4: Build & Share Your Project
Once you receive the hardware, you will have 3 Weeks to build your custom node. Because we believe in open-source collaboration, you must share your final ESPHome YAML configuration, a brief wiring diagram, and a short video of it in action with the community!

To secure one of the 5 spots, ensure your proposal hits one or more of the following marks:
- Practicality: It solves a genuine, everyday annoyance.
- Modularity: It effectively utilizes the kit’s expandability by integrating secondary sensors or actuators.
- Documentation Ready: You have a clear plan for how you will test and document the setup for others in the ESPHome community to replicate.
