From October 15 to 17, the vibrant tech community of Cameroon gathered at the iconic Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé for the Cameroon International Tech Summit (#CITS26). Joining under this year’s inspiring theme, “The Bold Agenda,” Seeed Studio was proud to participate as an official AI Sandbox Partner, bringing open-source hardware, edge computing, and decentralized IoT solutions directly to the heart of Central Africa’s growing innovation ecosystem.
Over three high-energy days, our team connected with hundreds of developers, students, hardware innovators, enterprise leaders, and policymakers, engaging in meaningful dialogues about how accessible technology can drive local solutions for sustainable development.
Hands-On Technology: Bringing Open-Source Hardware to Yaoundé
At the Seeed stand, our team members Dessap Loic and Yafet Girum Tesfaye put open-source hardware straight into the hands of the community. Attendees got to test live demos, inspect modular hardware, and discuss practical deployments across agriculture, smart cities, environmental monitoring, and robotics.
Key technologies featured at the event included:
Environmental Sensing & Weather Monitoring: The Seeed Weather Station and industrial-grade environmental sensors demonstrated how hyper-local microclimate data can empower climate resilience and precision agriculture.
IoT & Off-Grid Connectivity: LoRaWAN trackers and Meshtastic solar nodes showcased low-power, long-range, and off-grid mesh networking capabilities built for rural and urban infrastructure alike.
Edge AI & Robotics: The reComputer series, the reBot Arm, and specialized Mission Packs demonstrated how on-device artificial intelligence and robotics can run locally without relying on high-latency cloud connections.
Fostering Public-Sector & Ecosystem Dialogues
A major highlight of #CITS26 was the opportunity to engage with key public-sector stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Cameroon.
Discussions centered on how open-source hardware, accessible sensor networks, and localized edge AI can accelerate digital transformation, support national infrastructure goals, and lower the barrier to entry for homegrown tech talent. By combining government vision with developer agility and production-ready hardware, local communities can rapidly build, test, and deploy solutions tailored to regional needs.
Strengthening Community & Looking Ahead
Events like #CITS26 demonstrate the immense potential, ingenuity, and ambition of Africa’s developer ecosystem. We extend our sincere gratitude to Mr Ayuk Etta, Esoh Berlinda CeO and Founder of CITSCM organizers and MountainHub team for welcoming Seeed Studio to such a dynamic platform, as well as all the event partners who made this gathering possible.
Most importantly, thank you to every developer, student, and innovator who visited our booth, tested our hardware, and shared their vision with us.
Let’s Build Together
This summit was just the beginning. We are excited to translate the conversations started in Yaoundé into long-term partnerships and real-world deployments.

What the Community Had to Say: Feedback from the Field
One of the most valuable aspects of #CITS26 was hearing directly from the people building Cameroon’s technological future. Here is what local leaders across academia, tech hubs, and industry shared with us:
🎓 Universities & Research Labs
“Having direct access to production-ready edge AI hardware like the reComputer and modular sensors changes how we approach engineering education. It allows our students to move past pure theory and build real-world embedded AI prototypes that solve local challenges.”
— Computer Engineering Department Representative, University of Yaoundé I
💡 Tech Centers & Innovation Hubs
“Off-grid communication technologies like Meshtastic solar nodes and low-cost LoRaWAN trackers are game-changers for African tech hubs. They enable our local startup teams to deploy decentralized infrastructure in areas where traditional network connectivity is limited or expensive.”
— Innovation Lead, Local Tech Hub Partner
🏭 Industry & Enterprise Delegates
“Industrial-grade environmental sensors and compact edge hardware are exactly what local industries need to scale smart agriculture and logistics. Seeing Seeed’s open hardware approach proves we don’t have to build everything from scratch—we can customize proven building blocks for Cameroon’s specific operating environments.”
— Agri-Tech Founder & Industry Delegate
