01. Chaihuo MCV Hit the Road
Seeed Studio sent the Chaihuo MCV — a roving AI lab equipped with Seeed’s edge computing hardware and digital fabrication tools — on a 200+ day journey deep into China’s interior. At every stop, the MCV deployed open-source edge AI to tackle real-world agricultural challenges: running AI-powered tomato sorting and environmental monitoring entirely on local edge devices, without relying on cloud or cellular connectivity. The initiative demonstrated how Seeed’s open-source edge AI stack can bridge the gap between rural farming and industrial processing — optimizing quality control, reducing waste, and proving that autonomous AI infrastructure can operate effectively even in remote, network-limited environments. 0.2 Cliff Stability Project in UK
In a community-led collaboration with IoT consultancy Thingitude, Seeed Studio’s SenseCAP technology is powering a scalable, low-cost approach to climate resilience on the UK’s south coast. By deploying LoRaWAN-based sensor networks — including the SenseCAP S2120 weather station — a residents’ action group is building a real-time digital twin of an unstable coastal cliff, enabling early warning alerts and data-driven stabilization planning. The initiative directly supports UN Sustainable Development Goals 9, 11, and 13, offering a replicable, open model for landslip-prone communities to protect lives and infrastructure through accessible, sustainable IoT infrastructure.
