The Seeed Studio RS-485 Breakout Board is a versatile RS-485 expansion designed for all Seeed Studio XIAO development boards. Equipped with the TP8485E transceiver IC, this breakout board efficiently converts UART serial streams to RS-485 signals. Operating in half-duplex mode, the TP8485E supports bidirectional RS-485 communication over distances of up to 1,200 meters. The board offers hardware automatic or software-controlled transmit/receive direction switching, configured through solder options. It accepts either a 5V or 12V DC power input and provides separate 3-pin terminals for power and RS-485 connections, making it suitable for reliable communication over long distances and in electrically noisy environments.
