[World Engineering Day] The Ultimate Guide for Engineers
The fourth of March is right around the corner – this means that the World Engineering Day is almost here! In this article, we want to reiterate our encouragement and support for engineers all around the world with an ultimate resource guide summarizing all the materials that we’ve created. Are you ready? Let’s go!
What is World Engineering Day?
The World Engineering Day was designated by UNESCO in 2019 for the purpose of celebrating the role of engineering in creating a better world and future. This year, the focus is on sustainable development for water, energy, sustainable infrastructure, innovation, and of course, education. The main event on 4th March 2021 will be live-streamed and accompanied by webinars hosted by capable engineers all around the globe. More information can be found here.
Seeed’s Mission: Supporting Engineers Around the World
Since our inauguration in 2008, Seeed has been dedicated to supporting engineers and developers around the world. We aim to make hardware more accessible by removing barriers to hardware innovation, through open technology, design & agile manufacturing services, as well as industrial-grade IoT devices. Thus, the message behind the World Engineering Day is one that resonates very strongly with our mission here at Seeed.
In line with World Engineering Day 2021, we would like to also continue to support the mission of Engineering Education by providing a comprehensive collection of resources of engineering knowledge for the Seeed Community. We also want to highlight some of the work that we have done to make it easier for anyone who is interested to get into electronics.

Buying Guides
Electronics knowledge is one thing, but even the most experienced engineers can get overwhelmed with the sheer variety of products available, even at similar price points. To save you all the trouble and worry, we’ve compiled comprehensive lists that summarise and compare the most popular products in each category. These lists are regularly updated, so you can rest assured that the products featured are not only fresh, but also the best.
Arduino Selection Guide
Arduino is arguably the most popular microcontroller platform in the world, with an extensive collection of libraries for nearly any kind of project and a user-friendly IDE. However, there are many Arduino boards to choose from, each with their own unique functions and purpose. There are also other Arduino-compatible microcontroller boards, such as our very popular Seeeduino XIAO and Wio Terminal.
Visit our Arduino Board Selection Guide to be rid of confusion once and for all!
Best Single Board Computers of 2021
Single board computers (SBCs) are another product that often bring confusion. Most people would know about the popular Raspberry Pi 4. Speaking of Raspberry Pi 4, today we are releasing the Grove Smart Agriculture Kit with Raspberry Pi 4, which is specifically designed for Microsoft FarmBeats for Students. It comes with FREE curricula, teachers’ guide books, and students’ activities!
Meanwhile, did you know that SBCs like the ODYSSEY x86J4105 series are capable of running full-fledged desktop operating systems like Windows?
If you’re in the market for a single board computer, be sure to check out our Best Single Board Computers of 2021 article, where we compare and discuss each SBC in detail!
Tools & Accessories
But of course, every engineer must have their tools! Whether you’re just starting out with engineering or if you’re an experienced engineer simply looking for an update to your inventory, be sure to visit our Electronics Workbench Essentials article to check off all the essentials!
Grove: Grow Your Idea
When speaking of tools and accessories, it would be a crime to not mention Grove. Grove is a modular and standardised connector prototyping system developed by Seeed that takes a building block approach to assembling electronics. By eliminating the need for jumper wires or solder, Grove makes it easier to get into hardware prototyping.
We’ve also developed a comprehensive Grove Beginner Kit for Arduino to make it even easier to learn electronics and programming without the fuss of complicated wiring. Learn about how this kit enables electronics learning and more in our resource roundup!
To date, there are over 300 Grove modules available for a variety of purposes, including sensors, actuators, display and communication modules. No matter the project you are working on, there will definitely be a Grove module for you.
